they use pk4 file format to cut game files down from 1gig plus to around 400 megs keeps all the game files in one big file nice compressed file to save disk space

the reason you should uninstall old drivers first is to make sure that you dont end up with old files mixed with new files which can cause compatability issues and stability problems etc etc it makes sense if you think about it
