the problem i had was that my ram was pc2100 and not 3200. after i upgraded it i saw a huge boost. check and see what speed yours is. otherwise check your drivers. i remember reading that ati was picky with drivers and hl2.

depends on if you want wireless. from what ive been reading if you want wired, linksys is the way to go. if you want wireless, netgear is better. i have a linksys befsr41(wired) and have had no problems what so ever. i actually managed to stay connected to aim for over a month untill my isp started having issues, so it wasnt even the routers problem.
