  1. The Source engine generates configs and "tweaks" various cvars for different GPU architectures, I've actually had STEAM warn me once before that it could not guarantee performance due to non-WHQL approved drivers, that was from a CD version of Half-Life2. My advice follows Rename all your .CFGs to .BAK (well config.cfg anyway) Delete your "counter-strike source" folder (not the caches though) Download a WHQL approved nVIDIA driver Ensure that you are running the latest firmware for your motherboard/graphics card Reset CMOS to defaults Try your graphics card in a friends' PC EDIT-- I just re-read your post and noticed you said your computer automatically reboots itself. This is likely due to Windows XP's default setting for a fatal system error. Follow these steps to disable this "feature". Right click My Computer > Properties Click on the "Advanced" tab Click on the bottom "Settings" button under the heading "Startup and Recovery" Remove the tick from "Automatically restart" Next time, you will recieve the dreaded blue screen of death (BSOD). This may give you a filename (eg nv4_disp.dll) or simply spit out a hex error code (0x0000008E). Post in this thread if you want my assitance or simply google the error code.
  2. That's actually quite a valid question, it's a server-side setting, I'm not sure if it's actually still in the engine anymore. I have a feeling that may have been removed when CS went retail (ver 1.0).

Downloading the Source Engine SDK would be a good start. I'm sure there's some tutorials on Google by now.
  4. You sir, are an idiot. Condition Zero and Counter-Strike both use the Half-Life engine, put two and two together.
  5. The genuis probably went to "New Game" (creating a LAN server) and then typed sv_cheats 1 in console and discovered he could use mat_normals again.
  6. Next time you r4ge public, just play with the tag of p00pernickel, someone will notice sooner or later.
  7. Right, first you want to see some guy light his shit on fire, and now you wanna see a midget take a monster cock? WTF is wrong with you man.

You actually want to see this guy's shit on fire? You fucking weirdo.
  9. It's computer generated, not an actual photo. PM me if you want it.
  10. Yes you should delete it, it's a shit program even after you register it.

How do these kids convince their parents to allow them to bake a cake and put funny writing on it? Like I'm just really curious.. Kid: Mom, I need to bake a cake and write something on it so I can be popular on the interweb Mom: *looking confused* What does baking a cake have to do with that? Kid: It's just the rules I have to bake a cake, everyone else did it.... *unsure at this point* Mom: ...Why don't you take your pocket money and go buy a cake? Insert several hours of whining and begging Mom: Why don't you play sports anymore, all you do is sit on the darn computer - I'm not gonna help you bake a cake so you can be a part of some 'gang' End of story.

Judging from your spam you seem to spend alot of time dead, which is unfortunate. Nice rage though.

What's the majority of their software mean? I think you are thinking of Visual C++, which is a Microsoft adoption of object orientated programming. I have to agree with dark_urza here, it would be far easier in the long run to learn C first and then progress on to VB/Python/Delphi whatever. Better still, spend a few hours in QBASIC to grasp the concept of programming, then go out and buy a Dummies book for C++.
  20. Agreed.

  22. Can you imagine trying to work my desktop when you're off your face? Chunky is good :-)
  23. Not bad, I bet your PC runs like shit though with that custom XP theme and that system info toolbar. I think DKay is winning this thread hands down at the moment.
  24. A couple of people were bugging me to do this for them, so I thought while I'm at it I would post it here. Basically it's the weapon models and sounds from Condition Zero which I use for my Counter-Strike 1.6, additionally it contains block player models (see a screenshot here). cz+block_models.rar (19.08MB) cz_wpnsounds.rar (3.47MB) If you can't get them to work, then you're an idiot :dfinger:
  25. I run two systems side by side, each using a SONY Trinitron 17" Flatscreen CRT running at 1600x1200. I use a program called Synergy to allow my keyboard and mouse to seamlessly control both systems. So to give you an accurate view of my desktop, I have merged two screenshots together (one from each system). The results are below (sorry it's a bit wide but, go figure). http://images.teqnohaxor.com/desktop.jpg
