If you have lag problems with screen captures with fraps try capturing at a low resolution and frame rate. You're likely to have the same problem with any other screen capturing program if your computer isn't fast enough... it takes a lot to play a game at a high res while recording and compressing it at the same time without any lag. If you insist on using obsolete computers then do it the old fashion analog way, capture video from the s-video port on your graphics card to another pc that has a mpeg 2 hardware based encoder video capture card.
