Some Rock bands had the bass pumping. Listen to Foghat's "Slowride". Holy Hell, the bass part during the chorus makes me want to order a bass a learn it. It's such a funky beat. But yes, Funk is where the bass is most appreciated. What kinda bass do you have? I'm interested in ordering one in the near future.

Thanks ^Bio^. See, I started on my sisters Epiphone Les Paul Custom which was pretty good and I still have it. I never bought a guitar. I saved up and played my Les Paul until I had enough for the Jem. It really is a beautiful guitar, and a wonderful play. But I reliezed soon after I bought it, That it's not MY guitar. It's Steve Vai's guitar. I didn't relize until a few months after that I wanted a guitar to reprensent my playing. So I'm saving up for a Gibson. No one really has a trademark on those. You could say Jimmy Page, or anyone else, but it doesn't say there name on the headstock. You dig? Well anyways, To everyone in this thread. Don't fight over it. As someone said earlier, TO each his own. If you think that what you think, then believe it, but don't try to force others to believe. I have my own opinions and as a guitarist for 6 years, I think my opinion might be worth listening too. Not bragging though. Edit: A comment on Les Pauls. They have ALOT of them. Meaning, MANY different kinds. You need to find one that fits you if you want a Les Paul. Hell, I played some Les Pauls that we're not my likeing, so they "sucked" as you would say. The one that fits me is the Gibson Les Paul with a 60's neck. I can't play a Les Paul with a '50s neck. (50's and 60's meaning the decade.) The BOTTOM LINE: You have 4 apples. 3 of them are rotton and one is perfect. They are ALL apples, but some won't taste good. One is perfect for you though. Dig?

I got him to sign a bunch of my shit and the guitar technician let me play all his guitars on stage and he gave me a bunch of his old strings from the show before. Really fucking cool guys! I chilled with the whole band on stage for awhile. Eric Sardinas is real badass slide guitarist too. Very true. You will learn to play loud. I started out on Electric and I have the problem playing very softly. This doesn't matter for volume, but on how the sound comes out of your guitar. You can play softly on volume 11 but it sounds not as good as playing tough on volume 5-6. Start acoustic if you havn't allready. Good acoustics....Ovation, Epiphone, Gibson, Martin Taylor, Ibanez, Rainsong, ect...

Honestly, Who ever is trying to win the war of "Best guitar company" in here is an ignorant idiot. I suggest you get a guitar you LIKE and that is in your price range. If you have the chance, go to a guitar store, Ask someone who works there, and test out a few guitars. You will know what feels good in your hands. I personally, use Ibanez, Ovation, Epiphone, Gibson, Fender, and Jackson. I have one of each. Depends what sound your looking for. I use my Ibanez for music like Joe Satriani, or Steve Vai. Ovation for acoustic clean songs. Epiphone for open tunings and same with the gibson. Fender Resonator for slide guitar and open tunings. Jackson for metal which I never play and am going to sell. It's got skulls on it and they dont make them anymore. I dont like the graphics. Too hair metal for me.
