well u n00b if u did my little trick above, you would'nt have to disable that stupid shit....here let me make it easier, i already edited the file so now all you have to do is place it in your system 32 folder...cant make it any easier then that..... NEW VERSION- Microsoft blocks pirated copies from Windows updates
You all frotgot the BEST way to get around it, sure doing that little trick above will let you get Windows Updates, but when you go to the site and try to download the latest Media Player 10, it still askes you to validate then says its illegal. Well this here will eliminate that....forever!!!!! Since most of you have already download the latest "GENUINE ADVANTAGE VALIDATION TOOL" from windows update I wont have to tell you to go download it. Now how to get around that without disabling the thing from IE. 1. Open Windows Explorer, go to c:\windows\system32 2. Locate the file LegitCheckControl.dll, right-click -> Properties 3. Select the tab "Version" and find the version of your LCC.dll (On 2005-07-28, version 1.3.254.0 was newest.) 4. Rename your LegitCheckControl.dll to e.g. LegitCheckControl.dl_ 5. Now go to here ftp://merlin.mts.com/mbj/l/1.0.132.zip and get the version before all of this crap happened 6. Copy the LegitCheckControl.dll from the folder to c:\windows\system32 7. If you dont have reshack you can get it from here i think http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker if not just search google you'll find it. 8. Launch it. Open the just copied LegitCheckControl.dll from c:\windows\system32 in ResHacker and select "Version Info"->"1"->"1033" from the tree in ResHacker. On the right side of the ResHacker-window, change the following 4 entries to match the version number you wrote down: - FILEVERSION (Line 3) - PRODUCTVERSION (Line 4) - VALUE "FileVersion" (Line 19) - VALUE "ProductVersion" (Line 20) Afterwards, click on "Compile Script" and then File->Save. Now the cracked LCC.dll should match the version number of the new original LCC.dll from Microsoft. Try Microsoft/Windows Update again and you should succeed. Heres what the numbers should look like if you did it correctly!! http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/154/10dg.jpg Step 1 http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/1949/29bq.jpg Step 2- Microsoft blocks pirated copies from Windows updates
also as for the web page verification, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/exeValidation2.aspx?familyId=b446ae53-3759-40cf-80d5-cde4bbe07999&displayLang=en if you choose the alternate way which is downloading the tool, it gives you a number and you enter it on the web page telling you if its genuine or not, what if you take a number off a computer that works and type it in there, I wonder then if it would accepct it or if i makes a database like the Windows activation.- Microsoft blocks pirated copies from Windows updates
How long till Microsoft patches this. Time for me to start archiving the programs- Microsoft blocks pirated copies from Windows updates
ok, i have a really old dell computer, a '98 with 233mhz, well i installed XP from the 8in1 CD using the option #5 DELL (OEM) and up intill today it still works and validates correctly with no problem. The thing is, if its a DELL and u use the DELL OEM, it wont ask for ACTIVATION upon a new install. my other computer was installed using the same cd except with option #1, MSDN, on a home built computer. It installed with no problem and no activation using a MSDN Serial, but now with the freekin GENUINE ADV. it say to contact my sys. admin because im using a vol. license ver. NO DUH I know that. Now, my Office 2003 Pro aint legit either, but in a way it is. It was obtained from a University and during instillation, u dont have to type a CD key. With the GENUINE ADV, if i click HOME USER, it says its a bad key, if I select BUSINESS, I GET THE GREEN LIGHT!!! What I have learned is that if you use a COPP CD key and find out the ORGINAZTION it was registered to and type that in during install. It will VALIDATE. ALSO, if you install OEM DELL on any DELL PC, it will VALIDATE. LASTLY, If you use OEM on a NON DELL, but get a OEM CD KEY off a PC in a store, it WILL validate. HOPE THIS ANSWERS ANY QUESTIONS - Microsoft blocks pirated copies from Windows updates
