am writing this letter because I take issue with some of Prof. StonerSmurf's arguments. Let's review the errors in StonerSmurf's statements in order. First, garrulous big-mouths often prove their point by relying on untenable conjecture and unverifiable hearsay. StonerSmurf's perspective is that trees cause more pollution than automobiles do. My perspective, in contrast, is that in a rather infamous speech, StonerSmurf exclaimed that superstition is no less credible than proven scientific principles. (I edited out the rest of what he said because, well, it didn't really say anything.) This moral issue will eventually be rendered academic by the fact that he commonly appoints ineffective people to important positions. He then ensures that these people stay in those positions because that makes it easy for him to shower condescending guttersnipes with undeserved encomia. Some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that StonerSmurf is hardly the first proponent of disruptive ageism and he is unlikely to be the last. But I'm not exaggerating; if anything, I'm understating the situation. Did it ever occur to StonerSmurf that I am morally and ethically opposed to his cop-outs? This isn't such an easy question to answer, but let me take a stab at it: He really shouldn't abet ethnic genocide, dictatorships, and footling exhibitionists. That's just common sense. Of course, the people who appreciate his rantings are those who eagerly root up common sense, prominently hold it out, and decry it as poison with astonishing alacrity. I have no problem with the manifestly obvious statement that we should use our words to create understanding and progress, not hatred and division. I have no problem with the idea that he simply regurgitates the empty arguments that have been fed to him over the years. And I have no problem with the special privileges occasionally granted to snotty hedonists. What I do have a problem with are his primitive manifestos. He lives for one reason and for one reason only: to spew forth ignorance and prejudice. StonerSmurf shouldn't pull the levers of mercantalism and oil the gears of propagandism. That would be like asking a question at a news conference and, too angry and passionate to wait for the answer, exiting the auditorium before the response. Both of those actions disparage and ridicule our traditional heroes and role models. Let's try to understand what handing over our rights to him will really mean. It certainly won't mean that we'll be able to freely demonstrate conclusively that his sophistries are sanctimonious in their impact, unholy in their aspirations, officious in their political deviousness, and goofy in their wretched philosophies. No, it will mean witchcraft, beastliness, rape, and murder will become omnipresent in our society. It will mean a descent back into the jungle. I don't know which are worse, right-wing tyrants or left-wing tyrants. But I do know that StonerSmurf is careless with data, makes all sorts of causal interpretations of things without any real justification, has a way of combining disparate ideas that don't seem to hang together, seems to show a sort of pride in his own biases, gets into all sorts of impetuous speculation, and then makes no effort to test out his speculations -- and that's just the short list! I feel that writing this letter is like celestial navigation. Before directional instruments were invented, sailors navigated the seas by fixing their compass on the North Star. But if StonerSmurf can one day create a system of hooliganism characterized by confidential files, closed courts, gag orders, and statutory immunity, then the long descent into night is sure to follow. I don't want this to sound like sour grapes, but he has, at times, called me "Pecksniffian" or "recalcitrant". Such contemptuous name-calling has passed far beyond the stage of being infantile but harmless. It has the capacity to shame my name. As far as I'm concerned, if StonerSmurf continues to ignore compromise and focus solely on his personal agenda, crime will escalate as schools deteriorate, corruption increases, and quality of life plummets. This in mind, I would like to expand people's understanding of his self-righteous sermons. Still, we shouldn't jump to conclusions, even though it is a known fact that his wheelings and dealings are based on two fundamental errors. They assume that mediocrity and normalcy are ideal virtues. And they promote the mistaken idea that hanging out with supercilious spoiled brats is a wonderful, culturally enriching experience. StonerSmurf has planted his vassals everywhere. You can find them in businesses, unions, activist organizations, tax-exempt foundations, professional societies, movies, schools, churches, and so on. Not only does this subversive approach enhance StonerSmurf's ability to repeat the mistakes of the past but it also provides irrefutable evidence that to StonerSmurf's mind, every word that leaves his mouth is teeming with useful information. So that means that his words are a breath of fresh air amid our modern culture's toxic cloud of chaos, right? No, not right. The truth is that emotionalism has served as the justification for the butchering, torture, and enslavement of more people than any other "ism". That's why it's StonerSmurf's favorite; it makes it easy for him to make bargains with the devil. And that, in my view, is our real prob seconded
