Stata, i cant help but relate what you just said to that post your ride thread. People spending thousands on cosmetic crap for thier car tomake it look fast when it has a 1.5L engine inside. What do $345 shoes say? Everytime i spend that kind of money, like my $180 oakleys, i turn around a few months later and say DAMMIT, i wish i hadn't bought them. Because the money could be spent elsewhere on better things, like dinner with freinds or a movie, or who knows. Maybe even fixing a car i crash into my neighbors house. But i agree; theft is the low of the low.

It's a style issue man. I plan to pimp out my del sol. Its got the wimpy stock 1.5L engine, no horsepower, etc. But I plan to put on some nice wheels, get a STOCK spoiler (bc that looks best, and its modest), and repaint the thing (which, after the crash, it needs anyway). I want the car to look nice, not like a wannabe dragster. That is the extent of "pimp" for me. It has a great stereo, its a convertable, gets 38.5 MPG, and (will) look nice. I don't race, or compete in anything. I drive it. What more could you want? My Advice : spend the money elsewhere on things that dont depreciate, like land or a house.

COLLEGE = NO $$$ FOR NIFTY CARS I like the cheap small mods i do to my car. I am still working on some plexiglass speaker covers for the Del Sol. Little fun mods like that are what makes a car yours. I paid $6K for the car with 66K miles. It will run forever (pending i dont run it into any more houses). When I'm 25, have a stable job, and want a $25K car, I will get one. Now is not the time. Us broke college students enjoy modding our little ricers bc its all we have the funds for. Just because you own a cheaper Jap car, doesnt mean you cant show it love.
