hahaha MTX with the hp. I would say get an Athlon 3000+ 64 bit, and use the money you would save on NOT getting a dual core and get a decent GFX card, like a Nvidia 7800 GT.

I would say your PSU selection is fine. Antec is a great brand, and 550W is adequate. The price the pay for it should not be a factor, its still a great product. I have no experience with ASRock brand hardware, so I cannot make a recommendation. The OCZ stuff is great memory, I have some of the gold series in my machine. Go for the newer Audigy X-Fi Xtreme Music. It's a little more $$, but Maximum PC says its worth it. Where's the HD? (maybe i missed that in the above replies)

microphone is a good idea, but for better pickup, you could get a headphone extension with two male ends, and plug one directly from your sound output to your microphone, then use: start -> all programs -> accesories -> entertainment -> sound recorder Radio Shack, a few $$
