Lots of OLD guys here sport. Obviously you haven't been around very long to have discovered that ... I was here looooooong time ago when there seemed to be a more interesting bunch of members & forum members . That's probably the reason I stuck around for so long .... There use to be some pretty entertaining posts back then .. now there's just a bunch of wannabes and I rarely check whats going on any more . As for my Resume , it's fact . I collect a nice pension now and I have a rather lucrative General Contracting company now in New England . My experience in the Military didn't do me a helluva lot of good when I returned to the civilian world but I've done well in construction and with my retirement benefits I won't have to worry about health care or paying for an over price HMO . Does that answer your curiosity ?

I am retired Army Master Sergeant/E-8 with 22 yrs of Service . When I was enlisting after my first year of college (1978) , most of you weren't even born . When any of you posers/military experts think you know more about being in the military ... just let me know . If you don't know something then don't pretend you are an expert .. this includes making ridiculous comments like "you don't think there is any Army in Hawaii" .... Dumbass

My advice ....... Follow your own advice. Just out of curiosity Mr. Marine Corp , just how long have you been in the service ? Since you seem to be dishing out all this advice ? Zuzu , if you are not planing on doing 20 yrs , your best bet for a career after military service would be in the Air Force , Army or Navy . With those services you have an opportunity to learn a job/career specialty that is transferable into the civilian world . Your opportunities after being a ground pounder for 4 yrs in the Marines are extremely slim .

As for Hawaii, I don't think there are any Army guys there. Only Marines (K-Bay). WRONG 25th Infantry Division @ Schofield Barracks has been in Hawaii since 1941 . 500th Military Intelligence Brigade Army Pacific Command @ Ft Shafter Tripler Army Medical Center and numerous smaller Army units stationed in Hawaii .

Marines have their purpose in the military , however if you want to be a brainwashed cannon fodder drone ... steer clean of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. I too am a bit prejudice since I retired from the Army back in 2001. Army basic training is rather simple . You deal with the typical mind games , PT and indoctrinations . You have to be pretty pathetic to struggle getting thru Army basic. When I enlisted , you needed a HS Diploma or a GED. However with the current recruiting slump I believe HS Diploma can be waived and achieved while on Active service. The Asvab test is ridiculously easy. The higher you score on the ASVAB the more MOS enlistment options are available to you . For example .... way back in 1978 I scored somewhere around 250 on the Asvab and was given pretty much carte blanc on the Army MOS List . I chose Military Intelligence Field. 98GCM (chinese linguist) After basic I went to DLI in Monterey Calif. for 47 weeks of language training , then 6 wks of Intel training and an additional 6 weeks of advanced intel training . Then off to US Army FS Kunia in Hawaii for the remainder of my 4 yr enlistment. (where I spent 1 1/2 yrs as full time student at UH Manoa at the governments expense while on active duty and by the end of my career had obtained a MA degree while on Active service) After my first 4 yrs however I changed MOS to 97B and I spent the next 4 reenlistments with the XVIII AB corp , 82nd AB and 75th Ranger Reg. So steer clear of Combat related MOS , you have a better chance of your first enlistment being tolerable rather than horrible. If you want to join the Air Force/Farce , You will be required to recognize and distinguish between a Dinner fork and a Salad fork . If you want to join the Navy you will be required to provide your own Vaseline or KY jelly.

You think that's bad ?......In Sept 2006 the IRS seized one of my business bank accounts cuz they "claimed" I owed them an additional $13,200.00 from 2002 taxes..... after my tax attorney and accountant goes round and round with them for 3 1/2 months the IRS FINALLY admits they had made a mistake and I don't own them an additional $13,200.00 for 2002. Here it is Nov 2007 and I have yet to get back the $9121.72 they seized in 2006. They graciously unfroze the back account on Jan 2007 but have yet to return my money. Oh ya and it cost me roughly $3500.00 for my attorney , my accountant is on regular retainer so he didn't really cost me anything extra.
