Really interesting reading thru this thread... so I have to ask WHAT is the final word? Does this thing still work 100%? I can only assume it works by not presenting the server with the STEAM ID and giving that "ID Pending" thing that happens in some source mods when people host a listenserver. I'd test it myself, cept I don't have any banned accoutns (thankfully... don't have the cash ATM to go buy a new HL2 with college comin up)

Aight, anyone here know of the Cybertronics Cyberstic 2? Well, I can't find my driver disk for it... and so far my internet searches are dead ends... apparently the origional manufacturer went under or something ... their homepage doesn't exist anymore :( anyone able to help?

I found a few that work reasonable well.. Anyone here play EvE Online? I need to know how to get it to connect via HTTPort :( I tried to make a post about it at school where I have the rest of the info, but the class ended before I had the chance :( Anyone have experience with HTTPort care to share how to set it up?

win XP might be too big for your PC then... it's a resource hog OS from hell if ya ask me course, I run a 250 gb hd so it doesn't matter that it alone takes up almost a gig and a half or something crazy like that (haven't looked recently)

I would advise getting an AMD for gaming- the AMD Opteron 148 has served me well in all intensive situations... BF2, HL2, HL2: Lost Coast, BF2: SF, F.E.A.R.- I can run em all at max settings with very limited "map change lag" and a good FPS I run: AMD Opteron 148 @ 2.2 ghz OC'ed to 2.5 ghz nVidea GeForce 7800 (GT or XT or soemthing T XD dont' remember which and I'm at school right now) 1 gig DDR2 Ram SB Audigy 2 ZS Plat sound card

Anyone know the IP for any good web based FREE proxy servers with low latency? The school's being shitty again with the blocking and shit :( And most of the ones I've found have rather extreme loads. I just need the IP and Port, Mozilla will do the rest fo me

Got another question for yall- now that I have my PC up and running smoothly, I have midterms coming up soon. One of them, my English midterm, requires I make 100 notecards as "flashcards" for a pre-set list of terms to know; this is part of the midterm grade. Now, as my handwriting is about as legible as a drunken monkey's piss in the dirt, I have gotten permission to type up my notecards. However, I have a bit of a problem- just how do I set up Microsoft Word to print on a standard notecard size (I think it's 3x5) Is there an easy way to do this? Oh, and it needs the name on one side, info on the other. :( Thanks for taking a look guys! -Kitt

lol my problem is I'm rather noobish when it comes to higher end programming. Lil basic, lil C++, lil java, lil HTML... but not a whole lot of any of em. My high school is useless for learning it, hoping college + e-tuitorials will be better :D

0o' gods, do people still do that kind of shit with g-mod? Thought that went out by version 2 at the latest 0o' No, actually, I find g-mod very entertaining. It's fun to give myself godmode, set the NPC health modifyer to 9999x normal HP, then spawn an antlion guard and see how my lil minions below act without noclip or special weapons XD Some come up with really ingenious ways to use the available supplies, some just sorta go squish XD

ANyone here play Garrys Mod? Would you happen to know how to make it so I can connect to servers / host again? it seems the latest VAC upgrade broke G-mod for some odd reason for thousands of people *shrug* I'm off to check the g-mod forums again... my net's been down almost a WEEK

My opinon: AMD is better than Intel when it comes to quick use high intensity power: AMD's simply shine when it comes to gaming, rendering, or server hosting. My AMD Athalon on my current rig (a measly 1.8 ghz CPU with no OC) is able to both host and play a G-mod server for HL2- I had some noob come in one day and start spamming the large chimneys (that run a TON of v-physics calculations when they collide) and got about 30 of them out before I managed to kick. My system slowed to a CRAWL... but it didn't crash! As soon as I deleted some of the chimneys, it sped right back up. Everyone was like "WTF? You didn't crash? AWSOME!" Most DEDICATED servers I've found can't handle that. And that's an older ATHALON! Now, INTEL has it's place- eg, word processing, spreadsheets, ect. They make pretty good laptop CPU's more to come- jsut got busted by the computer lab lady :(

yeah, but how much more does the 3700 cost? I'm getting that 2.1 Opteron for $235 then going to OC it to 2.5 if I can. What would be the comparison for the 3700+

keeping my current HD- a 7200 RPM 160 gig hard drive. It's served me well and it's free :D

I try to be open to all ideas I'm going for the opteron cause of the low price- it's an easy CPU to overclock, my buddy has one he's OC'ed by almost 15% and it still runs cool with just standard cooling system (1 intake, 3 exhaust, 1 CPU heatsink/fan combo with arctic silver thermal compound)

Nah, dual core doesn't seem to work well with BF2 at all :( I've had some experience upgrading and modifying PC's... I've also got an article from PC gamer to help me with stuff I'm not sure of. Never built one myself, but I figure as long as I keep myself grounded, take my time, and be careful, I should be fine :) Right? As for the PSU- I'll look into getting a better one :)

uhm it's Windows XP Pro SP1 I think It's not windows update... I can't activate it (eg, in 15 days my windows won't let me log in anymore :( )

This happened to me before... forget how I fixed it... anyway: I reformated my computer about 2 weeks ago... and for some reason I can't verify my instalation ... I think it has to do with the CD key.... but the CD IS legit. I've used this CD something like twelve times or so, always on the same system (I reformat about once every 3 months or as needed) any ideas? cause last time I called winblows tech support, it took over 3 hours JUST to get a human on the other end of hte line 0o'
