Never had problems with the MX series, only real advantage over wired is when I game and I have enough space to move the mouse without straining the cord. As for wireless on linux eh, not sure on how the drivers are, last I heard wasn't doing so well with finding them. The only bad part about my wireless mouse is if I get hungry and go to get some food or a drink and bring it with me =P

The network I do security and administration at had similar problems with their OEM key. Finding information for it was a pain in the ass.
