Hmm, I think the easiest way would be to just take the disk out and plug it into another machine and get the backup. I have been in a similar situtation b4 (I think) and I just took HDD out. end of... edit: However if you E: has windows on it already just switch the 2 connectors from the other hdd into the other :/ and boot up, you can format your C: from your E: to save switching leads back if your lazy... ask for more details if you want. / Typo

Ok try turning them off at the wall aswell and disconnect the phone line from router... leave for 5 mins then reboot. Should work :/
