(ie - detroit techno) trance: very melodic. this is what people think of who call it all 'techno'. uplifting and cheesy strings and melodies, way way over the top synth riffs, often gay female singing. sucks a lot house: grew out of disco, generally a more organic feel with 'actual' instruments, guitars, basses, horns, sometimes some 'soul' singers in it. sometimes has latin or funky vibes. drum and bass: broken beat, very fast, heavy basslines. usually for the kids who think they are too cool to go to 'raves' anymore.
