Posted July 27, 200519 yr What's with the gaming industry lately? Online you can get Adobe Photoshop CS2 which is worth US$599.00, absolutlely for free, without any serious validation, harddrive spoofing, or such. But when it comes down to a $50 game, it seems that the security is going crazy there, harddrive spoofing, required online registration, required valid key, auto-full-ban for cheating, no game files are allowed to be edited(harddrive spoofing) So big company's like Adobe could care less if people are easily able to steal their products and get away with it without any trace... But smaller companys(EA, Valve) that make $50 games, go insane for loosing a mear $50...
July 27, 200519 yr Author Well it's not only Adobe, What about Microsoft Windows? Most of us use it and a large portion did not even pay for it, yet it is still able to ge the updates, run all the games perfectlly, you do not see a multi-billionaire Bill Gates complaining... I don't remember that Valve had much of a problem without steam with cs1.6 and hl, Even though large portion of their games were illegally downloaded, Some how they still managed to achive millions, and look at the new Source Engine, pretty. So if Valve's STEAM is being really harsh on this, then I better damn hope to see that Valve does something good with the billiions of dollors they have earned and release a pretty decent Half-Life 3, if not then I guess I will have to rant about them in future....
July 27, 200519 yr Reason: Because big companies license out Photoshop to use on their thousands of computers = big profit. The gaming industry relies on individual customer purchases to survive... no guaranteed money. Most companies would never think of pirating software because of it's potential consequences.

CSS got millions upon release, even though pirating the game was available to all (with full online capablity)

July 27, 200519 yr maybe its because with products like adobe PS you offer a service i.e. a website / logo, whatever for which someone else payes you for?

July 29, 200519 yr not being racists, but i heard 90% of russia uses pirated copies of windows. :dfinger: Why would that be interpreted as racism?
July 29, 200519 yr People are money hungry assholes, and even when they're worth $5,000,000 they're not going to stop.
July 29, 200519 yr and how many home users do you know who have an honest version of photoshop :P i can say i know of one, and he didn't buy it again when his son told him he could get the full copy for free. Mines illegal. Your right, I don't think I know of anyone with a legit copy of Photoshop. My aunt who happens to be a graphic arts person thingy got fired from her company that she worked for. She stole photoshop from them before she left. She gave the disc to me and i had it. I got a new computer and just downloaded it. On a side note, does anyone else have the Paradox crack for. Just curious to see how well known it is.
July 29, 200519 yr Cause it ain't no fun to cheat & rage on Adobe lol. funny shit. and that other guy means smaller companys compared to Microsoft and shit like that
