Posted July 27, 200519 yr There are some DLL files that I do not want on my computer, but I'm struggling to remove them. If I try just deleting them, it says Access Is Denied. So I go to the good old command prompt and type this: CD C:\WINDOWS\system32 then I type: regsvr32 -u dllnamehere.dll This has solved the problem before, but not this time. I've tried it for more than one DLL file, and each time I get this message when I hit enter: dllnamehere.dll was loaded, but the DLLUnregisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered. Does anyone know how I can delete this permanently? AdAware won't get rid of it fully either. Just comes back.
July 27, 200519 yr What's the name of the DLL? I had some crap on here related to A.Better.Internet that took some time to kill. Most were DLL files that wouldn't remove with a lot of different methods. I actually ended up searching for the adware company and had to DL an uninstaller, and it worked fine.
July 27, 200519 yr delete it from inside safe mode, then create a blank file by the same name and make it readonly.
July 27, 200519 yr Author I tried deleting it in safe mode, and got the same Access Denied error. Safe Mode is disabled. I try unregistering the DLL's in safe mode but got the same error. Thanks for the suggestion r4iney. I'll try your method v0dka, except I don't think I'll be able to delete it. Maybe I can write over it though. The two DLL's that I want to remove are: reginv.dll winkey.dll I think that they are both related to a program called fservice which I removed from my startup long ago. I still cannot delete it though. Thanks for the help again.
July 27, 200519 yr Do a virus scan on trendmicros website in a section called housecall. Its free, and will get rid of the virus. I use microsoft antispyware and grisofts AVG free edition. I have never had a problem since this combo. Ad aware works good too, just doesnt pick up viruses.
July 27, 200519 yr wow so far without a noob coming to flame and everyone is being helpful what the fuck is going on :wow:

I've installed it at least a couple times before, but it won't install now. And I don't feel comfortable enough with any other language to make a suitable enough program.

July 27, 200519 yr If you know where the files are and you can see them in your windows explorer than try this program. It is a great way to get rid of files that say 'Can not delete file, it is in use by another program' http://www.snapfiles.com/get/removereboot.html

In reply to another post, I have ran a full scan with Microsoft Anti-Spyware and it did not pick these files up. Only Ad-Aware has, and they were still there.

I used it to get rid of the sp0r-k-eh trojan that the myg0t fellows tricked me into downloading once. EDIT: Try this link, maybe it was just the link http://www2.freedownloadscenter.com/FDM/install.php3?url=http://www.bjb-inc.com/removeonreboot/download.htm&ref=http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Shell_and_Desktop/Misc__Shell_Enhancements/Remove_on_Reboot_Shell_Extension_Download.html

July 28, 200519 yr Author That link didn't work for me, but I'm going to try and Google it. Thanks for your help sir.
July 28, 200519 yr Google the DLL's. (There are probably hundreds of sites all about your dillema) As for actual advice, pretty much what everyone else who wasn't an asshat said.
July 28, 200519 yr switch (me) said: ext3/reiserfs owns ntfs. :P well ext3 and reiserfs r journaling fs like ntfs xD.
July 28, 200519 yr Author I got that Remove On Reboot tool to work, but it did not remove the DLL's when I told it to after rebooting.

Its supposed to remove every single file you tell it to when it is shutting down or booting up. I can't remeber. I guess the next best thing you could use is HijackThis! You could try posting the log that comes out of it on a handy forum that I use http://www.forums.techguy.org All you should do is post your problem along with the log and usually someone has an answer. Hope this helps.
