Wow, are you slow? Yes, I would in fact shred your hard drive, go for a drive and "drop it down a sewer...", or throw it in a landsite. But you could also just change your IP address. Its not hard. Just change it, fool. But I would get rid of the other, cause if the FBI comes a knocking, you be getting fined. :p, but I would do it all over again. My older brother did the same thing, he changed IP, switched harddrives from his computer, he had a backup one (safe thing), with almost alll the info and crap he had, he backed up all his stuff, didn't destroy the harddrive, instead he just threw it down a sewer drain, and bought the software. Nothing happened, we had local police here, they talked to him about how serious downloading illegal stuff was, and fines and shit. And he simply talked his way out of it, told him he didn't know that the program was illegal, and went on about "Why is this program accessable if it is illegal? Can't you shut it down? Why do you guys allow this program to exist?" and stuff like that.

I rent DVD's all the time, and burn every one. I rent games, burn every one. I download so many programs, movies, games, everything. Burn everything, make back ups. Have extra drives. Its all good. I have at least $40 000 worth of games in my house. But that's okay, I have alot of money, and all I do is pay for the DVD's and CD's. Most of which, are stolen. So it's even cheaper.

changing his IP isn't going to change the fact that he was the one using that IP at that time.

well first im going to wait for a reply from the company, hopefully they wont get any legal type stuff involved and will just accept me buying a copy of the software
well thankfully i have a extra hard drive i can put into my computer, i just put the 2 hard drives from my CP in a plastic bag and a camo bag and put them in a treehouse about 500 feet deep into the woods in back of my house. thats a little much but still. Now im goiing to reformat. after that ill make sure all the data is erased by other methods.

that doesnt matter. They still have your IP at the time you did it

What's all this bullshit of destroying your harddrive, put it in a fucking box and bury it in your yard and reuse it after a year rifk. WASTE OF MONEY !

umm while the data still exists youre in danger on being caught - that is, if the company doesnt settle for you buying the software.

A format doesnt clean the data off your disk either dude, to get rid of it properly you have to do as someone said earlier and literally destroy the platter inside your hdd case. Use an angle grinder to cut the hdd open then cut the smooth disks inside it (the platter) then you will be safe as they cannot recover the data from that. After that, bury the remains. DONT just hide them somewhere.

best of luck to you mate and thanks for the heads up on that software :/

The only way you could secure your innocence in court -- if they ever decide to take legal action, which they most likely will, is to physically destroy your hard drive.

he best way of doing this is:

-buy at least a gallon of gasoline

-remove the drive from your computer

- soak the drive in gasoline

- burn the damn thing

- keep resoaking it in gasoline until its burnt to a crisp

- there will still be some physical remnants of the drive, dump it in a lake, stream or pond

Note: Don't forget to take some pictures and post it here, this will certainly prove that the drive no longer exists and there is really no way of telling if there was any illegal software on it at all, ever.

qs2']stop spamming our forums by quoting people and replying nothing but "." you dumb fuck. if you don't have shit to say then don't post. no one gives a fuck about you cunt.

.

Use some good ol thermite and load the whole thing up with it.

well i told them what happened, that the seral was already aviable on the internet and that i was just trying it, i never even got the software. it, havent got a reply yet, but hopefully they will read it and just say "buy the software". to be safe ive hidden my hard drives extremly deep in the woods, my main hard drive is all that remains. Ill probably just open it up and scratch the disks. Good thing i have a non-opened new HD in my garage. I gathered all of my burnt cd disks into a pile. gota get rid of that too. Once you open a hard drive, its pretty much fucked anyway. then ill bury the disks in the woods. it seems like alot but now i gota.

I suggest you go with a plea-bargain .

This requires you to get an attorney and some lubricant ( K-Y jelly or Vacilline) . And whatever you do , prior to the trial , don't eat any CORN !! It only pisses them off more !!!!

your boy julius here spent 30 days in the pen, and I HATED EVERY FUCKING SECOND OF IT. Bathing with boys, no privacy when shitting, shitty food ...

hope the krauts don't get you locked up.

its not like i downloaded a torrent or anything serious. the program was aviable for download online, and i got the serial from a google search. it would be more serious if i downloaded it off a illeagl network. This looks like a small company, who wont take the same type action that maby a company like microsoft would. the actuall "crime" that i did was try a stolen serial that is posted on the net. so it doesent seem sooo serious where i gota get a lawyer

A crime is a crime, regardless of the prosecutor.

Have plenty of fun with this.

Well, the bad part about the FBI getting involved as it's an overseas software crime, is that they will sieze anything computer related in an attempt to raise the charges of piracy. Anything that doesn't have an actual physical counterpart will be used in court against you.

Basically, if you have ANYTHING burned onto cds, mp3's, software, games, modded xbox or ps2. Anything violating TOS for an online system, they will use it against you. I would either sell or destroy anything you have that could potentially get you convicted. Sure the $30 software is bad enough, but when the RIAA uses the FBI papers to get your downloaded movies and music?

You're fucked... :snivel:

wtf? the FBI? that seems way to drastic. i have a feeling they are not going to get any law type thing involved since i did send them a email saying what i did and how ill pay for the software and how im waiting for a responce. If somebody sent them a email saying fuck you i downloaded it and sold it as my own and cracked it, then they would do that.
