August 2, 200519 yr k i did the same thing as you 2 years ago. And i contacted the represenative of the company to reconsider and i bought the product. But i do have to say it made me stop doing those things. I find it better to buy the product than risk getting fined 30,000$+ and or jail time. Yea that should work by telling them you will buy there product. I think programs like that accually tell you to do so if you do that. I think when it poped up mine did. Scary shit. If they don't respond you will have to take imediate action. Your stomach will feel churned for a few days if it ain't already :P. Releasing information from the ISP to a small company (that could possibly be in Germany, however some programmers could be in the USA), would be against their Privacy Agreements and TOS. They are not allowed to track your internet usage, and if they did you could counter-sue for Privacy violations. But you did try and crack full-fledged liscened software and doing that is against their own TOS.. so basically. you're fucked. good game to admitting it. Don't burn your hard drive, get some batteries.. hook them up to some wires, set the wires on the drives then.. shoot it.
August 2, 200519 yr Well, the bad part about the FBI getting involved as it's an overseas software crime, is that they will sieze anything computer related in an attempt to raise the charges of piracy. Anything that doesn't have an actual physical counterpart will be used in court against you. Basically, if you have ANYTHING burned onto cds, mp3's, software, games, modded xbox or ps2. Anything violating TOS for an online system, they will use it against you. I would either sell or destroy anything you have that could potentially get you convicted. Sure the $30 software is bad enough, but when the RIAA uses the FBI papers to get your downloaded movies and music? You're fucked... :snivel: he knows what he's talkin about man, and it dosent matter if it's a small company, they will deffinitly prosecute, like many others have said, a crime is a crime, specially that u admitted it.
