System_Error']はい私は日本語を話す でも私の才腕が乏しいです

It was a hit due to its audacity. It's not often a complete loser on a subway train bulids up the guts to save a woman from a potentially dangerous subway groper then through forum help alone managed to adjust and boost his personality and appearence to the point where he actually gets the girl and the girl even ignored more attractive men in his favor. In short the entire story is nothing short of a miracle. The impossibility of it, the idea of a lost cause and someone who keeps trying despite all odds against him is a popular theme among the Japanese and examples of this is the famous Denpa Shonen spinoff Nasubi. In Nasubi a man was kidnapped by tv producers stripped naked and left in a bare apartment trapped inside. There was a stack of magazines and post cards and a few pens and the idea was that he was suppoed to figure out that he has to WIN his freedom.

Essentially he had to write into magazine contests to win things like TVs, food, etc. The purpose of the show was to show the japanese people that Japanese mass media has so many contests that one could theoretically live off them. This proved to be true much to his unfortunate life.

He was cooped up in there for a year. And they did it 2 him twice and one of the times was in Korea and he cant' speak korea.

What made the show special was he never gave up, he never went insane (well at least not to the point of giving up), he kept pushing on and kept trying to make everything funny. In his solitude he gave stuffed animals personalities and talked to the TV in an attempt to simulate people as he didn't see any for a whole year. His persistance against suffering and lonliness is what made it a popular show.

EDIT: Millions of people accross the country followed his life live over webcam. But important segments were broadcast on TV.

They actually had to move him to a new apartment because his secret location was revealed to the public and they were afraid his fans would try to bust him out.

holy crap. I canm almost read all of that japanese...

I remember someone talking about that. Didn't they "do" that a third time before he was interviewed? Something like a fake room with pull away walls? But that's crazy, all the same.

Reading Japanese is cool. I had Japanese classes with in Panama, and I only know basics/intermediate stuff. I need to practice more.

If I'm mistaken, he said "I speak Japanese, but very little/I need practice."

hmm, show the story, I wanna see if it's true or not.

lol this is for real? well it was japan i suspose if you did it in UK for example in london the drunk guy would knife you probably. :eek3d:

very interesting.....and i'm not being sarcastic. you'd never see stuff like that in the states but it'd be something i'd watch. but did he volunteer or was he kidnapped?

this story is like the one about the girl who ran away from her wedding..

it makes me want to ask

WHO FUCKING CARES?

どの位ずっと日本語で流暢であるか。

僕は日本語三年くらい勉強しました。 残念が、授業は余り良くなかったから、今は未だうまくに喋らないんです。

The 2 main characters for the Drama

Hermes (エルミス) - The nickname for the girl on the forums

TrainMan (電車男) - The nerd

Seem to be married ( like the actors are married since they share the same last name). I think the real people were put in as the actors for the drama so some of the scenes might not be acting.

Heres a preview trailer for episode 6.

Just so you get an idea of what it is... Its pretty funny cuz it shows imitations of the internet people.

Everyone else except you. Are you raged that my fans outnumber you? That your asshat attempt to discredit my post turned out to backfire against you when you realized reasonably intelligent people frequent the forums?

Whats that sound? I think it's Splatt smacking his head against the keyboard in frustration realizing i'm getting more attention than he is. And i'm not even trying! rifk

the japanese are very innovative people, sometimes I get stumped why inventors in the americas or europe havn't come up with the millions of products the japanese have integrated into their lives to live more comfortably, of which we hardly see here.

While we're still riding in cars that have just introduced features like satellite navigation, custom stereos and paying mad amounts of money for a decent internet connection, they're swimming in fiber optic high speed pipes.

I think the rest of the world is too busy looking at themselves in the mirror too much while japan is always looking forward.

Not to mention that Japan is one of the only few countries on the planet that have computer related pop-culture mix in with the mainstream pop.

The only computer related ads you see in USA or Canada are corporate level ads while in Japan they'll advertise all the other stuff.

the poster took the risk of telling the man to stop bothering the passengers. The two struggled for a short time while the other passengers used this distraction to summon the conductor, who took control of the situation.

That's pretty heroic! He asked the man to stop and then "struggled" with him. :sly: I thought you had to torpedo your plane into a naval vessel to be a hero in Japan.

Only in Japan would they make a TV series out of something like this. Also, the trailer was hilarious even though there were no words.

I'd like to see you find the guts to stand up to a potentially dangerous rapist. You'd probbaly just sit back and ignore it like the rest of the crowd. The fact that he chose to do something about it while others would "rather not get involved" is made him a hero.

This shit happens everyday.. atleast in the US. Had the "potential rapist" had a gun, I'd find the story more heroic.

Even if the guy did have a gun though, a TV series is still way over the top.

NO ONE GIVES 2 FUCKS - EXCEPT MEs00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000up

You're missing the point - its not the fact he helped the chick, its that he went on to turn from total loser into a winner that falls in love with hot chick - with help from internet forums!
