Posted August 14, 200519 yr Basically I'm on a piece of shit right now for CS 1.6 PIII 522mhz 256mb ram nVidia TNT2 Model 64 I usually get hmm, around 20-25 FPS in CS. I'm getting a new budget computer by the end of the month for school. It's probably gonna be around 2.4ghz with 512mb RAM. The video card, I don't know, but obviously budget, and I don't have the cash to buy a nice video card. I will stick with the one that comes with the system. Basically... What sort of performance will I be getting in Counter-Strike: Source? I am not a graphics whore, but I want NO lag. Resolution will probably be 800x600 or 1024x768, with medium detail. Can someone tell me how it will run with this, AND, with a graphics card below 200 dollars?
August 14, 200519 yr simple answer to ur question is yes i will run fine,a pc 2.4mhz with 512 ram with a gfx card worth 200 should easy run CSS fine. And lag is internet connection not pc specs generaly speaking, oh and you say your not a gfx whore well gfx cards are important when playing a game, so when ur buying your new pc check the gfx card because they may try put in a really bad one in, make sure it not onboard cos they tend to suck, even if its a little bit more expesive to specify a better gfx card it will be worth it in the long run
August 14, 200519 yr I recommend you make a custom computer from a website. Like Dell or something where you can choose your parts, because you really do need a good graphics card. A lot of the computers at Best Buy and stuff like that have horrible graphics cards.
August 14, 200519 yr Author Thanks for the informative and prompt reply! Anyways, would upgrading to 1GB RAM have any benefits for CS?
August 14, 200519 yr CS runs on a 700mhz comp with no ram at all, there's no point in getting 1gb ram if you don't use it heavily with super new games with everything on high... get a high-end pc with 1gb ram then it would probably pay off... You can play css with an onboard gfx card of cs/css are the only games to play you could do with a simple pc
August 14, 200519 yr Radeon 9600 SE runs fine for me when i used to play Half Life 2 and it only costed me about $100 CAD
August 14, 200519 yr Radeon 9600 SE runs fine for me when i used to play Half Life 2 and it only costed me about $100 CAD you could've saved yourself another 20 bucks and buy a 9550 and flash it to a 9600pro
August 14, 200519 yr Author how many FPS would I get on medium detail on 1024x768 res in HL2? I mean...with a "stock" gfx card.
August 14, 200519 yr about 40... wich would be fine because 40 is the limit what the eye can follow above is useless and under that is lag, but do look what onboard card you get because if you get a crappy onboard card you will be kinda screwed, look at the intel site or something for their onboard cards.
August 14, 200519 yr so when ur buying your new pc check the gfx card because they may try put in a really bad one in Yeah, I got Jewed on mine. Make sure you look to see what you get... Stupid fucking Dell fgts...
August 15, 200519 yr Author hahaha, you used the word jew the way I usually use it. I got a call home in grade 7, some fucking jewish whore ratted me out for bringing racial jokes to school so now her life is horrible at school. Yeah, thanks for the advice guys, I'm excited that I can probably get 40 FPS! I can't get that shit on 1.6 on this hunk of shit. OMFG EXCITED. Can't wait to get some hx.
August 15, 200519 yr I have a nice machine, but only a crappy 64mb graphics card. CS:S works great. No it doesn't. Why wouldn't you just get a good graphics card so you can play some of the new games? I don't get it.
