Posted August 14, 200519 yr Well im visting my parents this month and they have this program on here called AFAFilter Internet Protection Services v 4.4 It blocks 95% of the websites you try to access wether it has bad content or not. I have the administrative password and when I try and shut it down it doesnt let me go to any website (even google) until i turn it back on.... any help?
August 14, 200519 yr Well, I read a review on it (only reference I could find) and it seems to me you can't take it off. Now, the obvious method is to just destroy it and it's folder. If it's somehow in contact with the ISP, go behind a proxy. That should solve most of your problems.
August 14, 200519 yr Author im thinking about trying a proxy, but im not quite sure how, and no it doesnt have anything to do with the isp, it was installed and its constantly running in the taskbar
August 15, 200519 yr Author Can't you kill it with the taskmanager? no uninstalling isnt an option, because i think they pay for this and theyll have to set it up all over again
August 15, 200519 yr Why would they have a filter on it in the first place? Typically if it starts up when the machine starts up, it's in the startup config file. Go to run, and type msconfig. Go to the startup tab and untick whatever it is called. Restart. -- and if they pay, they should have a cd key
August 15, 200519 yr Wait a minute. Why do they have this program? to protect their ikkle kiddys from the evil of the internets
August 15, 200519 yr Author I just need a way to get around it... Im not computer illiterate if all i had to do was uninstall that would be the first thing i woulda done.. but if you uninstall it you cant view any webpages whatsoever... and its on here because i still have 2 little brothers-under 12 in the house who use this computer a lot
August 15, 200519 yr have u tried using another website brouser like firefox, it might inject into IE or somthing, just a sugestion if your using IE that is, + there are plenty of sites that allowed u to read other websites through them, or try following links to them instead of directly connecting to them, like going through google, ideas worth a try you never know
August 15, 200519 yr Well, if you uninstall it, and still affects the computer, there's either some bit of it lingering around, or it's in contact with your ISP. One or the other. Try checking the boot sequence (msconfig) in run. Check the services as well as the reg keys.
August 15, 200519 yr Author r00t'] there are plenty of sites that allowed u to read other websites through them any links? and i have both firefox and IE, neither work
