Hey there. When I download something off of a website I can get between 80-150kb. However when I use some kind of file sharing program, I get alot slower results

P2P - I get up to 70kb (I'm not really bothered about this)

Bittorrent - 0-20 kb

IRC - 20-40 kb

Could anyone explain what the cause of this could be or help me out.

I have tried port fowarding 6881-6889 but it didn't work

With p2p you need to open ports... i guess you're behind a router... most torrent trackers need either 6881-6889 opened or 6881-6999

with limewire it all depends on the person you're downloading from how much of his upload speed he will use for you to download files.

thanks for the help

i can't believe people are still using 'peer to peer' :ughwerd: . usenet> all methods of downloading.

and to tim, the speed of p2p downloading depends on the upload speed of the hosts from whom you are downloading

some people don't have providers that supply good binary servers and people don't want to pay for good usenet servers...

plus i don't see why i should use usenet when i can download with 400kb/s from torrent trackers

Well in my experience, I can almost never get full speed on a torrent download, ever. Torrent sucks IMO but I use it for games and shit.

depends on the tracker.

I usually download from trackers with a ratio wich means you've got to upload this amount to download that amount. You might think that sucks but people are forced to upload making your download faster and upload spoofers don't work like lame nerds use at trackers like the piratebay, i've never had a download that went slower than 80kb/s on those.

Try torrentleech.org or something, it's worth it.
