Here's an article from my new Gamepro magazine where Gabe Newell says,

"The amount of time it takes to get a good multicore engine running (for the Xbox 360), the Xbox 360 might not even be on the market any longer. That should scare the crap out of everybody."

Gabe also says that Microsoft and Sony treat people like morons.

computers > than consoles

it doesnt take 5 fucking years to get a new 3d card or more ram or more shit like that. and most good console games are released on PC, so whats the point of buying them? vagin1!

You believe this? Most good console genres don't even fit on a pc. Playing a platformer, a fighting game, etc. on a pc sucks. That's like playing a RTS on console.

That's the beauty of consoles, you don't have to upgrade to play the newest games, you buy one piece of hardware and you don't have to worry about hardware expenses for 5 years.

Depends on what you're looking for.

Try buying a pc that can display next generation graphics for $399.

They are about 10x better at it than most game developers.

Good to see that at least one person here notices the differences.

Try buying a console that you can use for graphic arts, audio editing, browsing internet, etc.

No console games cant be more then 4gig's since they are on dvd's(correct me if im wrong). And if you take a little trip out of your house to your local radio shack, you can get a wasaki PS2(controller) to USB adapter, and use your PS2 controller for sports games, etc, which suck with keyboard and mouse.

Yes, but you have to sit there playing a console and when compared to computers, are shitty graphics for 5years.

Go play sony now kthxbye.

Look, I can end the never ending debate of consoles verses pc's right now:

JUST WIN THE LOTTERY OR STEAL SOME CASH AND BUY BOTH, K

My computer is mostly used to play midround games (geforce fx 5200) , mostly for photoshop , modeling and other multimedia applications. I prefer controllers for their simplicity : insert disk , game. No lag , everybody the same graphics , never upgrades needed

Well, Consoles and PCs both have their pros and cons, in some point or another PCs aren totally the greatest things to have vid games on, either.

With Consoles:

You're insured that whatever video game made for that system is going to run at max or almost maximum frames per minute, etc. Not to mention, like someone stated above, you're insured for whatever time that you won't need to spend extra for RAM or a good graphic card for at least some time. But the major con is that when a newer version of vid games come out, you have to upgrade in order to a play newer video game, in order to experience better gameplay, gfx, etc. But even so, you're verified for at least the next 2-3 years that all the games'll run smoothly on whatever console it is. And the games are able to be sold to a broad audience, not just to those who meet the spec requirements.

With PCs:

Very customizable, easy to use and very easy to upgrade. As well, almost all games are ported (maybe) into PC, giving an extra advantage. The Major con with PCs, every game you buy has to have a specific requirement about what games can play on what, and if you got a computer that sucks, either you have to spend another 100-300$ on a better graphics card, maybe another 50 to 100$ on RAM, or whatever the case may be, and in the end you'll be spending more than what you're paying for a console in the long run. And just because you updated it to run with most games out today doesn't mean that there's a game out or there might be another game that'll come out that'll require even better equipment. And the way computers as well as games are upgrading... you'll be spending a lot to fund your PC than you will a console. Even then you might want to OR have to buy a new computer just so it can be properly upgraded with all the right EQ, or you may need a new one altogether. Compared to consoles, consoles are hassle/work-free.

But it really depends on what type of games you're looking for, some games may just run better period on a console than it does on a PC.

I have all three (Xbox, PS2, and PC) and they are all good at what they cover. So in reality all are ok.

Yea but this article does make sence.

People are complaining that games cost too much but with those new next gen consoles people expect great graphics great gameplay etc. But to make that happen designers have to work way harder to get to the point that will statisfy the costumer graphics and gameplay wise. But because of the extra time that will have to be put in the game the game would be more expensive and more people would complain and don't buy the videogame.

Just fucking wait til you get a ps3 or xbox 360 with the so called specs, more like dual pentium 266's i can guarantee it will be shit like every other console, NEXT GEN CONSOLES not atall they suck ass and for $399 do you seriously expect them to be next gen
looks like gabe lost some weight........

but hes still a fat fuck

must be on the subway diet

there is still lag in consoles.. i've noticed a bunch of games on xbox and gamecube where the fps drops when they throw too much shit at you. and if you were talking about bandwith lag, theres even more lag on consoles. It's really fun playing halo 2 and each time it lags it stops you playing and says 'reconnecting' or whatever.

basically, consoles are for the negro market. That's why you never hear black people on voice chats in pc games.

No console games cant be more then 4gig's since they are on dvd's(correct me if im wrong).

If we're talking about current generation, yes. Next generation will use HD-DVD/Blu-ray, so the games will be larger.

Stoned Gorilla']It's really fun playing halo 2 and each time it lags it stops you playing and says 'reconnecting' or whatever.

That's Bungie's fault, not lag though. The blue screen comes up when the host quits and someone else gets to be the host. But yeh, there's still a lot of lag.

Also, I saw (a longer version of) this article on some website a few months ago, I'll try to find and post the link.
