Could somebody give me a rough draft of the parts i would need.

Heres what i got so far:

Motherboard

Case

HD

Disc Drive

Fan w/ heatsink and whatnot

Ethernet Card

Thats it.

edit

and the fucking cables confuse the fuck out of me.

i dont kno what connects to what, i wish there was some1 around me that i could get help from :(

The easiest wway to go about the shit is to just keep upgrading. I don't know what kind of pc you have now so I can't say what you need to upgrade. For a good pc you can get a new case if you want, most are compatable with whatever but bigger is better. Anyways you can get by with upgrading what's below:

-Good Power supply, very under rated item. 50-75 dollars

-New cpu, you can get a nice athlon 64 3000 socket 939 with the new venice core which you can over clock if you desire very well = 150 bucks

-Mother board, 115 bucks or so

-System ram, good ram = 150 bucks or more for a gig and i doubt your current ram would be compatable

Graphics card, i dono what you have but 6800 series are coming down in price...

anyways, really variable..you can skimp on stuff if you're low on money but you're gonna have to get mobo/processor/ram at once...nice chunk...rest can come and go when you please.

Try to go PCI-e for gfx card.

basic rambling shit....if you havent put a pc together before it's really not hard...if you order a mobo and processor off of newegg they'll install the processor for you and test it to make sure it works...thats the only possible thing you can fuck up is applying thermal paste to the cpu. ....Cheers

case

ram

cpu and cooler

hard drive

floppy drive

cd drive

graphics card

all newer motherboards have lan, usb, firewire, audio etc all built in

http://www.newegg.com for all your parts

take your motherrboard and install ram and cpu and screw into case. screw in all your drives, connect ide cables to em, connect power cables to em, connect case front panel bla bla bla, theres another post in here about sites on building your own computer, read a detailed site that has lots of pictures and you will relize its ridicously easy, after you get the hang you can start upgrading it, good luck!

seriosuly.... I built a computer straight from components, got it booted with knoppix in less than 15 minutes, and that was because I took the time to blow out the dust and whipe down the case with windex. Computers = fucking childsplay to build.

and the fan i menchined above

i dont know what connects to what so im l0st on that too. :frowny face:

Well I'm just guessing that your mobo is just ATX... I'd just recommend a medium size case, I'd get a slightly larger case because this is your first time? You want to have enough room to, fiddle around.

after looking at you list, you should really try scoping your needs before going shopping for computer parts as you are in huge risk of paying more for something you could have gotten for less. Just my honest opinion.

p.s don't bother getting socket 478 with intel.

I was told that Intel/Nvidia and AMD/ATI go together, so I guess it's really up to what kind of games you play or what kind of video card you prefer. As for me, I like P4s, never have had a problem with their speed.

Not really. nVidia makes chipsets for AMD systems, and ATi makes chipsets for AMD & Intel systems. In terms of video cards they are interchangeable, but some gamers prefer AMD/nVidia because they both have the fastest components for gaming (AMD with the FX-57 (which kills any current X2 cpu) and nVidia with the 7800GTX.)

Sorry I worded it wrong, I meant that they work best with each other.
