No offense but you don't even sound smart enough to know what the fuck a 7800 gtx is let alone pay for it. You have a gf2 gts, don't lie. If you can afford a card like that and spend 500 bucks you should have enough common sense to figure shit out. Gimme that card because you're a fucking moron who should stop breathing my air.

lol you got a point

who buys a 500$ video card to play 1.6?

VSync.

VSync limits your max fps to your monitors refresh rate. Most people have their monitor set to refresh at 60 Hz and so their max fps will be 60 fps if VSync is left on.

To find out what refresh rate you have go to (this varies slightly from comuter to computer):

Control Panel - Display - Settings Tab - Advanced - Monitor Tab,

Never select a refresh rate that your monitor cannot support.

To turn on/off VSync you need to go into your graphics card properties, you can get to this as follows (again this varies slightly from comuter to computer):

Control Panel - Display - Settings Tab - Advanced - 3D Tab (you may not have a 3d tab - it may be something else).

In your graphics card properties/settings you can then turn VSync on or off (or application preference). You may be able to change this setting for both OpenGL and Direct3D modes seperately.

A lot of people turn VSync off so that they can effectively get higher fps than they're monitor will display. This can be ok, but in some cases will lead to tearing and even laggy effects.

I recommend that you leave this on unless you really feel otherwise. Personally I think mine is off for OpenGL and application preference for Direct3D.

NOTE: If you aren't even getting 60 fps (or whatever your refresh rate is) then turning VSync off wont give you a magical increase in fps.

If you really want to get higher fps than your refresh rate allows then the best thing to do is leave VSync on and increase the refresh rate for your monitor. If your monitor doesnt support it then consider getting a better monitor. A 100 Hz monitor with VSync on will give 100 fps and will give better performance than a 60 Hz monitor and VSync off.

the timerefresh command will always show you the true power of the card. The reason they limit fps to 60 is because when you run your card at too high of an fps it is not able to maintain it if alot of things happen at once, and you get ripping or slowdowns. However if they cap it at 60, and alot of things happen, older cards would be able to handel it just fine.

Who the fuck buys a 500$ videocard in the first place... thats rediculous.. you can find a card just as good at newegg for cheaper... it doesnt always have to be name brand just check out the comments and features of different cards

:stupid: :gaykeke:

Anyone who says the HL1 max is 100fps is fucking stupid. And i FUCKING HATE NVIDIA'S VSync... took me hours to discover that shit.

Like it matters!? The max FPS that your eye can follow is 40 FPS..

WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU SPEND 500 BUCKS ON A GRAPH CARD IF YOU ONLY PLAY CS 1.6 AND EXPECT 200FPS?!

I get like 50 ping and i have a Radeon 9550, it cost me 100 bucks man, get a decent card for 1.6, not a fucking expensive one! your crazy..

i would like the new line of Fatal1ty motherboards though :ughwerd:

Please tell me that you have a mental handicap...

YOUR PING DOESN'T HAVE TO DO SHIT WITH YOUR GRAPH CARD BUT WITH YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION!

And if you have an ati radion 9550 you could flash it to the level of a 9600pro.

1) using developer 1 and getting above 100 fps makes you run slower. yes, it does so stfu.

2) if you get 60fps max, you gotta turn off vsync and go fps_max 101.

3) gfx card has nothing to do with ping. if you stop living in america you'll see all the good servers have 10-15 ping.

4) if you have shit fps in general, using this cfg can help http://www.luusworld.com/fugly.cfg .. put it into your steam\steamapps\account\cstrike\userconfig.cfg file. makes the game look fugly but gives fps boost.

5) if all else fails, ask one of the g0ts for a file that'll screw up your computer so bad your mommy will buy you a new one for christmas

I'll be getting Dual 7800 gtx's, maybe thats a bit too much.
