Posted September 4, 200519 yr Okay, so I just got done watching Fight Club two times in a row, and I still don't fucking get it. Does anyone get the point to this movie?
September 4, 200519 yr Well the guy who shoots himself in the mouth at the end of the movie is the real person. Tyler is all in his imagination. That is why the girl that "tyler" always slept with was pissed off when the actual guy said that he hates her. I watched it today on tbs or whatever.

September 4, 200519 yr Wow, you my friend, are a moron. A better question would be, who hasn't seen fight club. Spoiler: Ok, so this is how it goes, Jack, the scrawny white guy, makes up an imaginary friend, Tyler Durdan. 'Tyler' shows him all of these cool things, but in reality, he is just doing all of this by himself. schizophrenia would be a better word for what Jack is. So Jack starts this fight club by himself after some guys notice him beating himself up in the back of a parking lot at a bar. So whenever you see Tyler alone interacting with people, that is when Jack is pretending to be tyler, but when tyler is talking to Jack, that is when he just looks like a crazy. By blowing out the back of his mouth with the handgun and imagining that he shot himself in the head, he was able to get rid of tyler durdan.

September 4, 200519 yr Okay, so I just got done watching Fight Club two times in a row, and I still don't fucking get it. Does anyone get the point to this movie? The point of the movie is that the guy turns into a nutcase because western society is a materialistic shithole. He goes through the movie as its already been said, and at the end he gets healed, wins the girl, and destroys a symbol of materialsm (the credit card networks) that were responsible for giving him the breakdown in the first place. Good movie

Edward norton is never given a name you idiot, hes refered to as the narrator in the ctredits, not jack.
September 4, 200519 yr Tomtheman70's description was mostly correct, Edward Norton played a schizophrenic. But the fact he left out was, that the whole point of the fight club was to gather people to create sort of a marxist, communist revolution. Hence, why they blow up the banks at the end. So the "point" of film was basically to tell a story about a group of people that wanted to overthrow capitalism and make people re-think their view of the world. The whole fight club thing was more or less just an attractive form of propaganda to get people to follow the cause. The basis of the film could be about the danger of a re-emergence of communism in our modern, technological world.
September 4, 200519 yr r4iney']As I remember there is a similar bomb in the building that he is in - hence why he tells his crew to leave quickly. The last thing you see is the building and the camera shakes (bomb explodes below) - at least that is how I see it. Correct me if Im wrong. No, theres a scene where he disarms the bomb in the van before that.
September 4, 200519 yr I think the book is better than the movie, as it ties it all together a bit better. However it's still a great film.
September 4, 200519 yr Yes, the book is good as well, although he acctually kills himself in the book. =(
September 4, 200519 yr Jack (Edward Norton) is an alienated insomniac, who goes to groups to feel better about himself.(Remaining men together,Sickle Cell, Brain Parasites) When Marla starts going to his groups he freaks out because he can't feel good about himself if there is another faker. He creates Tyler Durdon (Brad Pitt) as a symbol of everything he wants to be, as Tyler even said , "I am what you want to be, I live like you want to live, I fuck like you want to fuck" or something along those lines. Anyway, he creates Tyler Durdon as another way to make himself feel better, and then starts Fight Club as an even better way. Everything goes downhill from there, he realizes he is Tyler Durdon, and that he's about to blow the shit out of three square blocks of Credit Card companies, and stops himself by shooting himself, imagining that he shot himself in the head, and killed Tyler. Marla and Jack hold hands and watch the buildings drop. The end. k?
