Posted September 5, 200519 yr So my school network blocks all sorts of stuff including sites on violence, guns, sex, P2P ect... it also blocks online gaming and shit...i figured that i was gonna try tunneling and some other things when a guy down the hall says "just install AOL freetrial" and see what happens so i did and wouldnt you know it...AOL basically is a tunnel in and of itself...i dont actually use their services but i thought that if you were having problems with your school firewall you might wanna try this. it worked for me...

September 5, 200519 yr Our school doesn't "block" websites supposedly. They hide windows folders though, although I found them and messed with the CMD, about all I did. I did get called down to the office for pullin off a "net send * (forgot what the message was)".... Yeah I'm a badass. It was funny though everyone in the room was like wtf? and you shouldve seen the network admins face when this popped up on all of the computers in the lab, priceless.

September 6, 200519 yr Yes, that's what it does, but any half decent network admin would have it disabled. The fact that you could do it shows the networks at your school are seriously insecure or not properly maintained/locked down.
September 6, 200519 yr Author explaination plz basically the AOL client runs as a serverside app and works as a tunnel..sadly i still can play online games until i figure out the proxy situation but i can still download torrents and such so i guess im gonna be playing single player games until i learn how to play BF2 through a proxy. September 6, 200519 yr What is net send * <Message>? do you go into cmd and type net send * myg0t owns you that would be cool if all the people on the other pcs saw that We've tried it a mulititude of times, but the haggish old admin blocked it. Funny thing is, you can make new Shared servers, lock your computer, manage hardware, ect with rundll's. The look on the librarian's face was great when she saw me lock my computer while I printed something. Also in our library, they have a program in the main librarian area that allows them to 'spy' on every computer in the lab and instantly take control of it. Total pain in the ass.
September 6, 200519 yr Author no. i wanted to know how to use the netsend thing. oh i dont know how to do it i was saying that it would be cool.
September 6, 200519 yr oh i dont know how to do it i was saying that it would be cool. It's something like Start-Run- " NetSend "Text" " or something. Google it.
September 6, 200519 yr It's something like Start-Run- " NetSend "Text" " or something. Google it. wow. you should go to start-run- endlife.exe i can't believe you guys don't know what a netsend is
September 6, 200519 yr the netsend is easy.... if you have control of the cmd, go there, and type "net send ""computer name/student id"" """message""" " with out the quotes. Or you can send it to every computer by replacing the computer name with a *. If you dont have access to cmd, well then try to get access of command.com. If your school is using Novell, then your in luck. What you do is open a text document, and inside type start cmd.exe. Then save it as a .bat file, and run. If it doesnt open up, it means that its probably restricted, and if thats the case, just edit the .bat file to start command.com. If that still doesnt work, edit the bat to say start gpedit.msc. This is the thing used to change user rights, and since everyone is a Admin, you get to choose what you want to do with that..... Novell has to let you run scripts, so if you know a lot about scripting with windows... give some a try, and more than likely they will work, and if not, change your user rights.....
September 6, 200519 yr My school uses Websense, I hate that ***gish thing. They also blocked, like physically blocked all of the USB ports on the computer to prevent me from bringing in my usb stick and going through a proxy with firefox. We have about a 5 person geek team running our security on campus. I've gotten a password to get into the server from one of them, but I'd rather not be expelled. Any other way to get around websense?
September 6, 200519 yr *sigh* open up the cmd prompt for the netsent thing. THe sytntax is net send <user> <message> I think. If you dont have cmd on your start menu, go to the help center, search for command prompt and it should shortcut you to it. If that doesnt work just write the command into a notepad file and save it as a .bat and run it. But chances are, your sys admin has disabled it.

September 6, 200519 yr Your IP changes every time you log onto AOL so NO IP BANS! 1) thats not even true, its DIALUP that changes every time (i wonder if there is static dialup? probably not) AOL is just a client. 2) DSL and Dialup are this way usually.
September 6, 200519 yr Author to prevent me from bringing in my usb stick and going through a proxy with firefox. can someone explain how i can do this to play games throught the firewall? (sorry if its a n00bish question but i have never had to do it before and i am still googling it but any help would be nice)
