December 18, 200321 yr nice spoiling attempt, too bad everyone already knew what would happen at the end. lotr was kinda the best book i ever read. i even got all the other books (hobbit, silmarillion, etc.). 2 and 3 kinda disappointed me tho. Mainly because of the changes. ROTK lacks a decent end because they left out the battle fo the shire. The result was 30 minutes of dialogues ruining the tension built up before. You cannot show the people an epic battle and then bore them with half an hour of plain conversation. I know adding the REAL END of the book would of streched it too much, but i would have accepted a 4 hour movie as the end of the saga. Also most non-fans dont really care about all the Elves-move-West stuff, which makes explaining it useless, or at least more useless than the battle of the shire. I hope Jackson will add it to the DVD-SEE bte: are they making a hobbit movie? that would own.
December 18, 200321 yr Para...they have an animated movie from the 70's of the Hobbit. then again...there's the whoel series in animated form, from back then, including "the hobbit" couldn't tell you if they're gonna do a live action "hobbit" though.
December 18, 200321 yr im going to see it tonight with some friends and ive never seen the other movies or read the book... i guess im screwed and i already bought the ticket!!
December 19, 200321 yr its already #8 on the top 250 list on imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167260/
December 19, 200321 yr Well, as I didn't really care enough to read most of the posts I'll just jump right into it. The movie was cool, the books ownz teh moviez. Here they showed all three, one after one :D and that I think made it more special.. Altho you're a bit tired after sitting inside a movie theater for 9-10 hours I thought that it was worth it... All my friends loved it too... If you havn't read it, I suggest that you read it. The same applies for watching the movie. Pluss, it wouldn't hurt to read The Hobbit as it tells you how Bilbo got the ring(yesh most of you probably knew that but for those who didn't I thought I should let 'em know). Peter Jackson owns the rights for The Hobbit so he is thinking of making it after the current movie(King Kong), Enjoy :)
December 19, 200321 yr i havent seen it yet but damnit man do i wanna. i'll probably see it tomorrow or this weekend
December 19, 200321 yr I've always been a Tolkien fan since I was 13. Read the trilogy 3 times and the Hobbit 4 times, Silmarillion and others. Even took English-Tolkien I, and Tolkien II in high school. The Movie Return of the King is simply amazing. The CGI graphics are incredible. I hope in the extended version they have Sam Gamgee wielding the ring like in the book. I'm going to see this movie tomorrow....I must. BTW...The Hobbit is rumored to come out in 2006. I saw the trailer from Kazaa. Smaug pwnz
December 19, 200321 yr Sucked so bad, it made 33 million on the first day. 8 million off the 12:01am shows alone. It broke the records for the most money ever made on a open day of Wednesday.
December 19, 200321 yr i saw it last night, and it kinda pisses me off when you have dumb 16 year old wanna be niggers yelling out "when is this gonna end?" i read the books, but i thought the battle of the pellenor fields was gonna be better. its kinda gay when they showed aragorn legolas and gimli hopping out of the boat, when in the books it talks about how faramir was fighting, and he was surrounded, and then he saw the ships with black sails show up and thought he was done for...except the sails were removed and showed the white tree of gondor, and aragorn emerged with the army of the dead. would have been better that way
December 19, 200321 yr i saw it last night, and it kinda pisses me off when you have dumb 16 year old wanna be niggers yelling out "when is this gonna end?" Yea...when I saw The Fellowship of the Ring, this loser teenager in back of me kept whispering loudly to his little brother what was to come in the movie and god knows what. I wanted to reach over and grab his fucking scrawny little neck. He was one of those little geek, book worm, four eyed, nerd, puke, knowitall fucks that needed an ass beating anyway. Other than that, I enjoyed the movie. :biggrin2:
December 19, 200321 yr What'd you search in kazaa to find the trailer.. I searched the hobbit but just found the bullshit cartoon. *EDIT* nevermind.. I found it. Looks pretty sweet.. too small of a res to see any detail in smaug though... :O_o:
December 20, 200321 yr hook line and sinker. the hobbit trailer is fake, its a bunch of crudely thrown together clips from the movies with music from the trailer for the 2nd movie. That Hobbit Trailer This legend, beyond all others, has caused more excitement with fans than almost anything else I've ever seen. The folks at lathamfilm.com, a digital production house, pieced together scenes from other films to create an apparently realistic looking trailer for a film called 'The Hobbit'. Supposedly starring Ian McKellen, Ian Holm and directed by Peter Jackson, this film was set to be out in 2006. Well folks, this ain't gonna happen. Sorry to disappoint! lathamfilm.com is already gone and so is their link to the video... i got it off kazaa in 5 minutes and wasn't impressed. The dragon looks very out of place and not up to the other lotr cgi character standards. I wish they were making a hobbit, but this is just a hoax. December 20, 200321 yr I heard that they were.. but Peter Jackson might not be taking the job since he is doing King Kong, but I don't know. I heard he might be doing it at a later time.
December 20, 200321 yr They better do it before Ian Holm dies, the guy that played bilbo, he is 72...
December 20, 200321 yr It was decent, I did get a bit bored on the talking bits but the action was good, the ending dragged on too long too.
December 21, 200321 yr I've watched the first two. They looked pretty fucking awsome, so when i get around to it, I'm watching this. I never got into the whole lotr shit though...but the movies are awsomely made.
