If you weren't raged over the way and amount I post, why would you bother making unfounded (and insulting) assumptions about how I come upon the information I post, the motivation FOR my posts, and my reason(s) for being here at all? BTW...aside from checking facts I'm unsure of through various sources, in order to TRY and avoid sticking my foot in my mouth, I don't bother looking anything up for "source material" for my flames, mate...most of the info I post is from recollection of something I read or saw at some point, and recalled enough of to either post without checking facts (knowing they were correct), or recalled well enough to confirm them with under a minute's searching...boy, I tell ya, it's SUCH WORK, "sounding intelligent" in comparison to people like yourself...I'm so fucking exhausted by it that I manage to go to TWO colleges, cariing a total of 22 credit hours, work a part time job, keep my wife happy, raise three kids, AND still find time to game, as well as finding time to post on these forums...I must be some kind of superman, I guess...lol..I'd HAVE to be, if I spent my time doing all the in-depth searching and research you seem to be accusing me of needing to do in order to pull off this "pose" of being falsly intelligent...ROFL. And no, I don't know everything about ANYTHING, and some subjects I know so poorly, I can barely understand what they're about (like biochem...recently saw a post on here discussing it, and it was ALL Greek to me...notice I didn't post shit there?)...but 4 years in the Army DOES make you familiar with alot of military shit...especially if you spent half of it with the 3/75 INF (look it up...Ft Stewart, GA), personal interest in certain aspects of law (and I CLEARLY stated I'm hardly a lawyer...I just know more than the average layman about certain applied aspects, BECAUSE I was interested enough to read a couple books on them, instead of watching Jackass on MTV...a practice I heartily suggest for you...start with a second grade reading comprehension primer)...as far as the botany, I also flat stated I was no expert, and cited my sources for the information gathered...which I went out of my way to get specifically BECAUSE a certain individual was annoying me with his blatant misinformation and bullshit. Frankly, until I'd looked that shit up, I wouldn't have known a fig from a prune, or a date palm from a coconut palm...probably still wouldn't, if I saw them side by side in Florida. December 19, 200321 yr Just because YOU can't, don't assume *I* can't, mate...I just finished a semester at WWU cariing 12 hours towards my comp sci degree, and two 5 credit classes at night at the local clown college in networking (CCNP prep course and a Novell cert course) because WWU's networking program is essentially non-existant. Since I rarely spend more than 30 minutes on any homework assignment intended to be completed overnight, and, as a Jr, most of my comp sci specific requirements are "independant study"...worth 5 credits a term, but with two "big" assignments, and a bunch of little ones that build into the big ones, which I can turn in via e-mail. Since I'm used to working 80 hour weeks anyhow, this, plus a job, is less actual work than I was doing for a living BEFORE quiiting my last "real" job to go back to school. What you're missing is my former job was commission based auto sales and F&I in a dealership...in order to make money, I had to be there pretty much any time the store was open...my practice was to be there from open to close 5 days a week, plus a half day during one of my schedueled days off...which is exactly how I managed to make enough money to afford to quit to go back to school in the first place..so the time issues are not exactly a stress factor to me...might be to someone used to the grueling world of part time employment in McDonald's while attending high school, I suppose. As for your second point...hmm, let's see...I spend most of my time at home these days (I'm actually IN a classroom about 15 hours a week, since one course is independant study and another is goal oriented use of switches and routers to prep for a cert...something that rarely takes me a full class period, and I'm usually physically at my workplace maybe 13 hours a week...on a rough week, that is...most of my work duties can be handled remotely)...so I'm home more than most people with full time jobs (this wasn't true two years back...freshman year is a BITCH, and damned near caused me to quit school and go back to selling cars!). As for golf..I hate the fucking game...I spent all of high school living 50 feet from the 12th tee of a massively popular coutnry club course...my old man would rather spend his time on the links than finding out anything that was going on in MY life...besides, a bunch of old idiots who are set in their thinking play the game...at least with gaming, blading, racing, and such, I'm around young punks, who may be ignorant and immature for the most part, but they can, and WILL think more often than the old fucks set in their ways will....much more pleasant company, in my eyes. If this is a mid-life crisis, I've been in it since I was 19, and have no plans to leave it until I'm physically incapable anymore. Third point...WTF is "sound biased" and where did I say I wasn't? I DID say I wasn't making ANY attempt to sound any more intelligent than is completely natural for me...if you knew me from Adam, you'd know I talk this way IRL, as well...and if I don't know something, I either keep my effin mouf' shut, or I say "I think" such and thus..just like I do here...and, when given the chance, if I am unsure of my information, I confirm it before putting it out as fact, as much as I can. And yes, you're correct...I don't "admit I don't know much about a subject"...I either say my piece, regarding what I DO know...and shut up when someone who knows more displays such knowledge...ASK someone who I KNOW knows more...or I just don't post regarding the information, BECAUSE I don't know shit on the subject...what exactly do you expect me to do? Post spam on every thread I don't know shit about saying "I don't have a fucking CLUE what you guys are talking about, but I just HAD to see my name in this thread, so here I am!"...I don't exactly see YOU doing that, now, do I? Nor anyone else. Qualifications for my current job were "CCNA, no field time, 2 years minimum management experience"...the jobs I WANT after graduating are all "CCNP+, MCSE, 3 years+ in the field" with oppertunity to advance into aggressive security..and field time is precisely why I got the job I'm currently holding. And apparantly you didn't read my second post...I was cariing 12 hours at WWU this last term (barely full time), and 10 hours at the local community college, because WWU doesn't have any real networking program...I'm not after one degree...I'm after a B.S. in comp sci from western washington, and as many certs as I can pile up between company paid prep courses, and what's available at the community college....both ends are nesseccary for what I want to do. Looks like you need to do a little better research...and maybe think before jumping to conclusions :)
