September 15, 200519 yr Other than the fact that i have extensive knowledge about motors and work as a mechinical engineer, i would like to tell you that you are wrong about the motor being the 'same'. I own a 91 turbo, and not only is the turbo diffrent between 90-94, 94-98 eclipses, but the EVO is diffrent from the 90 versions like you claim. I mean shit the fucking oil lines for the turbo turbine bearing is switched around from the 90-94 versions. Um, if you dont own one of these cars or something in thier family, you have no right to talk. FYI, today i was following one of those Subaru STI's (gold wheels and wing etc) and my 91 talon with 180,000+ miles on it was keeping up with that piece of shit. I rebuilt alot of stuff back to stock. The modifications i have are a Exposed air intake, no cataltic converter, manual boost controller, waste gate dumps back into exposed air intake, the air filter is but of course K&N. I also rebuilt the turbo replaced the exhaust turbine housing with an after markte steel instead of nodular iron, it also has a bigger waste gate :) flap to reduce boost creep. NEVER BUY A SUBARU. Just a warning about the AWD turbo EVO, it is a specialty preformance oriented car. So usualy an enthusiest would own such a car, it is not the "fastest 1/4 mile" and it is not a ferri or ford 500 GT, or dare i say it "Turbo toyota supra". Mitsubishi put 10,000 mile Soft tires on the car for added street preformance. I personally plan on buying it, and driving it in bad weather, in the salt and snow, in the dirt. Basicly driving it into the ground, wear items such as the clutch, brake pads etc I will replace in my garage.... everything else will be warnteed for a while :) 100,000 mile/10 year powertrain, bumper to bumer for like i would guess 50,000 miles ??? I will basicly ruin the car so much so that, no ***et ass kid can have it after i am done with it. I miscommunicated what I meant. I have heard they used the same block for the generations. But a 91 turbo what do you own?

Not quite as fast as the STI (Evo: 278 HP Vs. STI's 300 hp), but tears up corners in comparison. BTW, the Evolution 7, 8 and 9 series have MR FQ-400 cars (limited edition) which come with 400BHP standard. They are faster than Subaru's. Oh, and they supposedly handle much better and grip the road like a supercar. September 15, 200519 yr wrx sti is faster, my friend has one with twin turbo with an air release.. he raced the new evo and kicked its ass. wanna here a funny but true story about n evo.. there was this kid who worked at the local gamestop.. well he got raped by the manager and rather than go to court he bought the kid an evo to keep his mouth shut.. if i can find the article ill upload it An Evolution 9 MR FQ-400 would seriously whoop any STI Subaru. The Evo 9 MR FQ-400 is the fastest 4-door car in the world. It does 0-60 in under 4 seconds.

September 19, 200519 yr i own a wrx and will say this. the sti and evo are both excellent cars and its really a drivers race between them. the evo does handle better and has alot more aftermarket support since its engine has been in the states for a long time.
