I just installed os X natively on my pc and it runs pretty well. No sound, lan, or video drivers though. Has anybody else tried this and got all their hardware working??

it's the latest mac OS wich was cracked so it runs on an x86 pc...

Couldn't try it... my computer isn't capable of running it

I like windows 100x better than mac fyi for all you windows lovers who want to flame me

I just like final cut pro cuz i do alot of video editing for school

it is much much better to make windows look like mac.

Wikipedia explains it clearly, "It is based on the Mach kernel and the BSD implementation of UNIX". That alone makes it 100x better than Windows. :shifty:

And FYI, everything on the 127. range (127.0.0.1 -> 127.255.255.255) is loopback (in regards to your "location")

I also tried this (OSx86) a while ago, but the kernel panicked and documentation for it was rather non-existant, so I decided I would try it again some time in the future.

Eh, I think Macs (hardware) have become associated with yuppy homos, but I do hear the OS kicks ass, more stable and faster than overbloated windows xp etc. How was it besides the total lack of drivers?

I have a guide for installing it and it looks like a major pita, any pointers for me when I get around to doing it?

Recommended Requirements

1) CPU: SSE2 or SSE3 capable CPU

- Download this tool called ‘CPU-Z’ to check your system’s information

(CPU-Z does not need to be installed. Just unzip the files to a directory and run the .exe. To remove the program, just delete the files.)

http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php

2) Memory: At least 256MB of RAM

3) OS: Windows, Linux

4) Drives: First Hard Disk (Existing OS)

Second Hard Disk (For OS X x86, at least a 7GB)

1x CD-ROM/RW or DVD-ROM/RW

Programs & Files Needed

1) WinRAR 3.50 http://www.win-rar.com/download.html

2) dd-0.3 http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/rawwrite/dd-0.3.zip

3) WMITools http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=40804

OS X x86 Installation Walkthrough

1) Booting Up to Exisiting OS

- Plug in your second Hard Disk as ‘Primary Slave’ and Power-On your PC.

2) Extracting “tiger-x86.tar.bz2”

- Extract the “tiger-x86.tar.bz2” file using WinRAR 3.50 to any directory

(Download the latest WinRAR 3.50 as versions below that would report that the archive is corrupted)

- Copy/Move the “tiger-x86-flat.img” file to C:\

3) Unzipping “dd-0.3.zip”

- Unzip the “dd-0.3.zip” file to C:\

- Go to C:\ to ensure that the following files are there: “Copying.txt”, “ddchanges.txt”, “Diskio.dll” and “dd.exe”

4) Using WMI Tools

- Download and install WMI Tools from Microsoft

- Before executing the dd command to write the OS X x86 image, you would need to run WMI Tools to find out the disk drive ID of your second Hard Disk

- Click on Start -> Programs -> WMI Tools -> WMI Object Browser

(If you are on WinXP SP2; right click on the information bar and select Allow block content and select Yes to ‘let the file to run active content’)

- Ensure the following and and click the OK until it loads

Connect to namespace:

root\CIMV2

- Expand the tree on the left window by double-clicking on Win32_ComputerSystem.Name=”…….”

and select Win32_SystemPartitions.PartComponent by clicking on it. - On the right window right-click on the Drive Device ID (Disk #1, Partition #0, etc) and select Go to Object - The device window will open and click on the Associations tab to show a graphical representation of your Hard Disks (Wait for the query to load) - Exploring with this tool you should be able to match drive letters (Win32_LogicalDisk.DeviceID=”C:”) to each physical disk reference (Win32_DiskDrive.DeviceID=”\\\\.\\PHYSICALDRIVE0″)

- If you have 2 Hard Disks and each with only 1 partition, it’s pretty straightforward.

First Hard Disk (C: Drive) Existing OS

Win32_DiskPartition.DeviceID="Disk #0, Partition #0"

Win32_DiskDrive.DeviceID =”\\\\.\\PHYSICALDRIVE0″

Second Hard Disk (D: Drive) For OS X x86

Win32_DiskPartition.DeviceID="Disk #1, Partition #0"

Win32_DiskDrive.DeviceID =”\\\\.\\PHYSICALDRIVE1″

- Take note of the Device ID of the drive you want to write OS X x86 to as you would need it for dd, in this case it would be ‘PHYSICALDRIVE1’

it literrally takes less than 10 min to install (for me that is, results may vary depending on your computer) not including other steps

to vanilla:

guide is beyond easy to follow, trash the other guide you have that requires linux bla bla, it runs perfectly its just that i dont have the supported hardware so i cant use audio and lan

Thanks, the guide I have is based on a windows system but states that I need another hdd, I am wondering if that means I cannot just use another partition of my primary drive or what. I have the tiger tar, just too busy playing games and shit to really set aside time to do it. Ill prolly give it a whirl before too long.
