the best burner ever made

lite-on sohw-1633s, aka sony drw222(<-- i think i got that wrong whatever)

i flashed the drives bios and can virtually read or write any media, 4x dual layer and 16x burn

Right now, unless you have a specific and important purpose for it, dual-layer writing is impractical. Not only is it slow as fuck, the discs cost upwards of five dollars each from most places (last time I checked, anyway). If you're just planning to copy movies and burn games and the like, single-layer media should work for almost anything. Very few games require over 4.7 gb, and movies can be compressed easily with acceptable quality.

Go ahead and get a writer that supports it, but don't expect to get much use out of the dual-layer feature. It really hasn't become a practical medium yet.

yeah, i got a sony dual layer, +-, rw (cd and dvd) a few months

they finally dropped down to like 50$

dual layer disks cost way too much though to be practical at the moment, i only use regular dvdrs at the moment :)

google " dvd shrink " to make dual layers dvds fit on normal dvdrs with no noticeable quality dif.

I got a DVD 16X dual layer burner (+R/RW) and i tried to burn a movie to a DVD 8X disc, and it wont work on my DVD player....I am very sad :(
