September 29, 200519 yr Maybe some people have Dells because they don't play computer games? Sadly I don't fall under that category.
September 29, 200519 yr I live in Austin. I know Michael Dell. He is nice, he buys things for me and my old high school. His house is bigger than Rhode Island. His computers suck. When I was a freshman in college, a bunch of my floormates had recently purchased a bunch of mid-level Dell Dimension 4100's through the school's special offer. A few months into school, 3/4's of these students were having problems, ranging from blank screens to unrecognized CD drives to mice no longer working. I talked to the warranty repairman who came to fix the computers (he was a regular in my dorm...) who was not a Dell employee, but one of thousands of contractors they hire out to do their repairs. He said that there was a a known issue with the 4100's motherboard that gave it a 50% chance of completely crapping out, but that Dell had decided to roll it out anyways because they figured it would be cheaper to deal with it on an individual basis rather than recall them all.
September 29, 200519 yr my comp that i play games on is a custom built while my ECU moderator is a DELL.......there very good laptops for business purposes Dell comps are pretty shitty for playing games when u buy a BUSINESS edition....k
September 29, 200519 yr buying a dell is extremely expensive. and the cheap ones they sell are so SLOW they take about 14 minutes to load all the "free" software they give you. that one 2400 dimension they are currently promoting for 299USD(after mail-in rebate)? horrible buy. my friend who knows nothing about PC's; he decided to get one. and without my consent he went and got himself that dell. he told me it was a fast pc... until he used my computer and he said HOLY SHIT THATS FAST YOU'RE LIKE YAERS AHEAD OF THE WORLD WITH THIS OMG. oh and btw shouldn't this be in the flames?
September 30, 200519 yr buying a dell is extremely expensive. 99% of the people that buy dell have credit issues IMHO. Dell is the easiest to get credit with I think. I didn't have credit when I first wanted a pc 6 years ago, and dell offered me $5000 no questions asked. Bought an Inspiron 8000 lappy for around $2300 with the 4 year warrenty. After replacing almost the whole compy in the first year, I rarely had problems with it then 3 weeks after warrenty expired monitor died. Their service was always prompt and fast, even when it broke in Greece. Although you have to always go through the BASIC REPAIR STEPS with the hindu phone guy.... :shifty:
