Posted October 6, 200519 yr Ok I work as a Telecom and Computer Networking Tech for a small company, and one of our coustomers set up a wireless network. Their wireless router (in their lounge area for coustomer access while waiting for services) is a Linxsys. The IT guy set up the router so that: a. Multiple users on the wireless network cannot see eachothers files, or even that their computers are connected. b. Very secure username/password on the router. c. You cannot get to the companys network behind the router. I've tried buffer overflows (an old, well published vulnerability for this router), bruteforcing the user/pass, portscanning for open ports to exploit, and a few other things. Just wondering if anyone here knows of anything that could be used to get past it. I'm trying to sneak past so I can get this guy fired. He's too stupid for his job, and i'm not saying i'm any better for the job. I've already found out that he didn't cap any bandwith privilages and that the wireless network was accessible from across the street, which could leave them open for various things. But yeah, anyone who knows any exploits/vulnerabilites, and cares to help out, let me know. This isn't really my feild of expertiese, so I cant handle it myself. Possible paypal reward if you can help me get into their buisness network, because if I prove they're not compliant with current regulations on protecting coustomer information, the guy's fucked.
October 6, 200519 yr walk up to the router and hit the reset button, boom all the settings are erased. That will be 10$ lol How is the network protected? Wep??? Wep can be easily sniffed and cracked with the proper tools. I believe there is a cd called auditor security or somethign like that. It is linux based and contains all the programs for cracking wep encryptions

The main concern is a disgruntled, motivated ex-customer coming in with the sole intention of disturbing the system. And yes I believe one of the forms of protection is WEP. The bad thing is, I dont have a linux based Laptop and cant really get ahold of one within the next week. So i'm looking for windows based methods that I could prove, or if it's linux based, i'll have to wait a week or two to show the GM.
October 6, 200519 yr I don't see how this benefits you? Will you get his job if he gets fired or something?

No, he's just very difficult to work with, and since he dosen't really know what he's doing it makes ME look bad. One of his pc's go down, and he blames it on the port, or the switch, or the cabling. I get called out there to fix it, then realize someone changed the TCP/IP settings or someone jammed their patch cord into the back of the pc so hard it broke the NIC card. I still get paid, but when the company sees so many bills going through accounting, it dosen't look good on us. And it's all because his dumb ass cant check obvious shit for himself. Just makes shit easier. Not to mention I told him there's no way it's secure and he should just get a seperate DSL connection or similar for the wireless instead of going off their network.

October 6, 200519 yr its a cd, you put the cd in your computer and it boots to linux, no need to get a labtop with it... edit: its a linux live cd that loads into your computers ram, it comes with auditor security suite, serch google and torrent sites for it. there are windows based program, ive tried a few but could'nt get them workign because my wireless card did not contain a certian chipset
October 6, 200519 yr Omg...... Linstink routers are fucking fgt pieces of shit. for one.... no wireless network is impossible to get into.... two... simple netbios know-how if you ARE on the network will gurentee you any shared resources on that network. its easy with linux, I suggest getting a distrobution made for security auditing, try Auditor, Knoppix-STD, WHAX, or PHLAK. Many great tools to get the job done, and im sure you can find tutorials for just about anything on the internet. good luck
October 6, 200519 yr Author Heh, I guess anything that's going to help me is going to require me to learn something VERY new (i.e. linux systems). I'm off to test out my new FreeBSD, WHAX, and Knoppix. And since this wasn't as easy and script-kiddieish as I hoped, heh, I guess i'll throw out a couple 1.6 NON-VAC-Banned accounts to t3rm1ght, Jasper, sIttin_siDewAys, and g0d if this works. I know, 'noone plays 1.6 anymore' but whatever. I'll get back to this thread once I figure this shit out haha.
