Posted October 19, 200519 yr Wilma became a hurricane yesterday afternoon as her sustained winds crept above 70 mph, however throughout the night she has intensified significantly with sustained winds now in the order of 155mph,category 5 hurricane, the strongest you can get. An airplane was sent into the centre of the hurricane this morning to take some readings, where it found the central pressure to be an astoundingly low 884 millibars, which makes it the lowest pressure to be recorded in an Atlantic hurricane in 2005. Wilma is currently churning in the north of the Caribbean Sea between Honduras and Jamaica and is expected to continue travelling northwest towards the Yucatan Channel, perhaps brushing Cancun on the way, before beginning to turn northeast and heading towards south Florida, where it is expected to land on Saturday. Strongest hurricane ever recorded, but will, as usual, be downgraded to an F3 before it hits Florida, but will still cause damage. Maybe more flooding for New Orleans? We can only hope. Anyone gonna be affected here by Wilma?

October 19, 200519 yr Wilma is the lowest pressure system ever recorded in the Atlantic. Wilma reached 882 mb, while the previous record was 888 set in 1988 (too many 8s for me). EDIT: Oh, and I am going to be effected by this one. I got ass raped by the other 3 last year (mainly the last 2). I live in Port St. Lucie, Fl. which is located not too far north of where the 2 hurricanes made landfall last hurricane season. Wilma is going to come from the other cost and come across and nail me like a korean mail order bride.
