Anyone know anything about dual booting?

im running XP right now... but i just bought another HD to run 2000 on, any constructive advice on how?

kthx.

Before dual booting, you must first unscrew your new hard drive and clearn the inside with a nylon sock.
you could have the os on the same hd but you would have to re-partition the drive - alternativly if you wanted you could get a programme which name has illuded my mind atm - prolly because im stonned - which gives you an option at start up - this thread is more of a computer discussion issue than gereral random and I realise my reply probably helps you in no way but i tried

lolz double post.

put the second os disk(idk which one you installed first) and have its setup directory go on the 2nd hard drive, and it should format the hard drive(to NTFS or FAT32 or w/e), and then install windows. usually xp will have built-in dual boot support so you should get a screen to choose which OS to use when you fire up your pc.

im 75% positive on this. dont really know much about dual-booting.

oh and btw wrong section. This needs to be in "computer discussion"

Windows 2K comes with dual boot support and I think XP does.

I suggest Partition Magic for making and resizine partitions.

You can also use LILO and GRUB they are boot managers.

why use a boot manager? your BIOS will detect the multiple operating systems and ask you which ones to load. (It doest with multiple Windows OSes, not sure about windows/linux combinations)

lilo and grub are linux bootloaders

windows xp comes with one anyway, you can configure it by editing boot.ini
