Posted November 1, 200519 yr Anybody snowboard here? Im considering buying one? is there an ideal hight? i have read a bunch of faqs but they all say diff shiz. are Sims boards good?
November 1, 200519 yr U want a board at least up to yer chin if yer young and still growing get one a lil bigger so u dont have to buy a new one next year. The best ppl to talk to are prolly the ppl at a SnowBoard Store. Boards are overpriced rent this year and buy after the season is over, and all the places have their sales.
November 1, 200519 yr ^Gave pretty good advice. Snowboard length is kind of a personal thing, and depends on what your style is..rent for a couple seasons, decide how heavily you'reinto it, and what your style is, and what works best for you. The longer a board is, the faster it is, shorter, wider boards are more controllable, though. SO basically, if you're looking to work the pipes, rent as short a board as the rental place is willing to let you go with, but if you're carving real slopes, and doing more freesyle stuff, go with a longer board, so you get the speed...rent, so you can try both, and a few "in-between" lengths", see what you have the most fun with.
November 1, 200519 yr ^Gave best advice. Season isn't opening up for a while, though. Oh well. Hafta get a new board soon, anyway. :\
November 1, 200519 yr just buy a cheap used board and gear when your learning, and if you decide you want to keep doing it then buy higher quality stuff
November 1, 200519 yr i started snowboarding last year, much better than whimpy ass skiing lol on my first day i crashed into the huge chairlift poll and i crashed into someone while he was instructing lmao!!! but i have a LTD board; i got oakleys gogles, gloves, the board and bindings for 300 bucks! fucking good deal, you wont find that in a store
November 2, 200519 yr i've been snowboarding in the pocono mountains, good times as long as its powder and not ice one time some asshole skier fell over and while i was cutting to the side of a slope and he flung his legs out in front of me, i did a double front flip and got a concussion.
November 2, 200519 yr Snowboard length is purely preference, I am 5'10" and by height I should ride a 159 board, but I do terrain/park so I need to be able to spin quicker and have a smaller base. I ride a 151 which is much much smaller and feels alot more comfortable, however, when I ride freestyle and long runs I will take up my 159 board because it is easier to ride, just not easier for tricks.
November 2, 200519 yr I didn't know this was a snowboarding forum I didn't know this wasn't the general forum section where you can talk aobut anything. I think snowboard length is about the same rule for surfing (relativley speaking)
November 2, 200519 yr theMinkey']dont try to fukn steal my tagline I don't think you understand, Canadian. Being from Colorado implies that I know everything there is to know about snowboarding.
November 2, 200519 yr yeah well i automatically knew how to snowboard ....if youve ever skated or surfed your pick it up REALLLL fast.. and u cant be scared of falling cus its gonna happen alot and ur gonnna get ice burns everywhere ......but anyway i agree on renting until u decide u <3 snowboarding have fun tho ^_^
November 2, 200519 yr ice burns? Where the hell are you boarding? I've been for 5 years now and never once have I had an "ice burn" lol, you get bruised up on the ass when you first start from falling but ice has almost 0 friction so I dont see how the hell an ice burn is possible.... retard. Snowboarding can either be the funnest time ever or the worst time ever depending on who you go with and who teaches you, my first time going was with my brother and he was already good and expected me to be able to keep up so I hated it and never went for a few more years. Then I went with a bunch of beginners like myself and it was a blast, you can get really good really fast at boarding and that is what is so appealing to everyone.
