Posted November 3, 200519 yr My computer kept making this annoying noise.. It comes down to that my gfx card fan is rubbing on somthing, if i put abit of lube in there, only a tiny bit do you think it could harm it. It looks pritty cut of from the circuit board.

KY Jelly works the best. btw - I wouldnt suggest using any kind of lube/oil/grease. I'd suggest removing the gfx card and trying to fix the fan yourself? If not then give the lube a try!
November 3, 200519 yr Once upon a time my computer made an annoying noise. Turned out a repairman had dropped half a custard cream into the fan. And thus that problem was solved.
November 3, 200519 yr Try Pushing the round button on the front of your Dell. The sound will go away.
November 3, 200519 yr Go out and buy a tube of Anal Eaze and apply as needed. Be sure to get the Cherry kind, so when the internals of your 97 Dell heat up, you'll smell fresh cherries.
November 3, 200519 yr Actually, any type of mineral oil will NOT harm you PC. This guy put his entire computer in mineral oil, fully submerging it. Quite an interesting feat..

LOL, I'm going to try that!!! Edit: I am now talking from a library computer, can anyone recomend a site for cheap computers?
November 3, 200519 yr You can usually get easy parts from ebay.. I think 4 gig drives go for about 10 dollars and they're enough to hold an operating system. I suggest using ECS parts- them being the cheapest/reliable.
November 3, 200519 yr Author Chuckles! Loudly at some replys! I fixed it I opened the case and got the hoover on it! So I learned that sucking it off is much better than applying lubercation.
