current system:

athlon xp 2500 (1.82Ghz)

1280 ddr

radeon9600 128mb

now i have a choice of buying one of these(i can't afford 6800) my price range is max at $600 Canadian

ATI Radeon 256MB AGP Graphics Card (X800XL)

ATI Radeon X850 Pro 256MB AGP Graphics Card - Bilingual

ATI All-In-Wonder 256MB AGP OEM Video Card (X800XL)

Leadtek WinFast 128MB GeForce Video Card (A400TDH)

BFG GeForce OC 128MB AGP Video Card (6600GT)

ATI Radeon X700 Pro PCIE 256MB Video Card

i want it to be able to least run smooth on high quality in quake4,fear,half-life2,etc

maybe i need to upgrade my cpu? should i save my next 2/3 weeks paycheck in order to buy 6800/6800gt? thanks

p.s. my mobo doesn't support pci-e

... just do it, k? We don't care if you buy a new video card or a pizza, k?

and if the Radeon 9600 has been well i suggest buying a ATI Radeon X850 Pro one, there fast and last long.

Also

What games do u play like, Bf2? or..

disappointment...

30~40fps average in quake4

40fps average in fear

30 fps average in serious sam 2

30 fps average in DOD

im gonna return this junk

your right, my cpu is bottlenecking x850pro

i dont know if i should upgrade to amd64 cpu's & upgrade to pci-e friendly mobo

because a lot of high end cards are coming out in pci-e

if i upgrade my cpu to athlon xp 3700+, and use x850pro, that would probably last me couple months until newer games that runs better on 7800gtx or x1800

damn but anyway im gonna get a refound on this shitty card and wait for a while till newer stuff come out

shitty mobo... only supports up to xp3000+ max

i guess i will buy 850xt PE, i dont want to mod the 800xt to void the warranty

i will upgrade the whole system later, waiting for more pci-e cards and m2 cpus

get it straight

ATI = quality

Nvidia = preformance

i would say go with the 6600 but 1. its 128mb and its AGP

find a good eVGA or BFG 256mb and PCI-e

if your willing to spend more money go with a BFG 6800GT PCI-e 256MB 256-bit GDDR3

First

Seeing his account disabled makes me feel sunny inside.

Second.

If nothing else, OC that 2500+ (if possible) I have the same proc, and have it up to 3200+ speeds (not on stock cooling)

If you have to stick with the current proc, i got a 6800 GT off ebay for 200$ used. Runs fear and doom3 excellently

(most settings on high in FEAR @ 1024x768 at an average of 42 FPS, with only 1% of frames under 25 FPS)

(Doom3 on high at 1280x1024 @ 50 FPS second run of timedemo demo1)

If you do upgrade to PCIE, get the 939 chipset, which supports the newer X2 processors and make sure the mobo has dual PCIE 16x lanes.

Good idea just don't buy a radeon. at least 2-3 years ago I got radeon I had to do about ten updates to the drivers and while playing a game I put anti alising too far the motherfucker cracked.

i can't oc my cpu anymore, if i change to 2.2ghz, it just crashs at bios

my rams are 1x 256ddr pc2700 / 2x 512ddr pc2700

maybe i need 2 gigs of pc3200 ram to oc this cpu to 2.2ghz... without a cooling fan?

i think im getting either 6800gt 256mb 8x agp or x850xt pe 256mb 8x agp

i can't seem to find x850xt pe available stocking around the computer stores in my area and only futureshop sell x850xt for like $600 :snivel:

i wish my debit card were master or visa card too

3. A total ***got who doesn't realise he could buy so many better things with his money.
