December 6, 200519 yr Pretty solid except for the graphics. Onboard BS, will be absolutely useless for games. Prolly no PCI-E or AGP slot on that mobo either. OEMs really like to ram your ass by denying upgrade options.

December 6, 200519 yr hahaha MTX with the hp. I would say get an Athlon 3000+ 64 bit, and use the money you would save on NOT getting a dual core and get a decent GFX card, like a Nvidia 7800 GT.

December 6, 200519 yr Seems like an ok deal to me. About 3 years ago i got a new computer for like $1000 and it wasn't close to being as worth it. I only got 80 GB hard drive and 512 MB ram.

Be wary tho man, you can get the best graphics card in the world and it won't do a damn bit of good if you have nowhere to put it in the PC. I highly recommend building your own or having a mom and pop shop build it for you. Ensure the mobo has a PCI-E slot to put in a graphics card, or an AGP at a minimum. But AGP is on the way out (if it isn't already out). I am going out on a limb and saying there is NO WAY you will be able to upgrade the graphics on that PC, unless you consider getting an ATI Rage PCI card an upgrade. Peace.
December 7, 200519 yr Other people are right about the graphics. And I've heard that Windows media center edition sucks balls too. For a best buy PC, that's not bad. however, I'd say go with building your own, however. Better prices, and you get exactally what you want. Compare what you have there to prices at http://www.tigerdirect.com. You'll probaly come out a little cheaper there.

What the hell else would you expect from that trash? First off, AMD's architecure and low core frequency is desighed for gaming. Another benefit is overclocking, which is something your celeron budget processor will never know. How fast is that celerons bus speed? 533 MHz? AMD dual core has a bus speed of 2000 MHz. Learn2processor newb. I laugh at people that buy a celeron processor because it says 3.0 GHz on the lable. :owned:

Lets have a math lesson. 1 MB = 1024 KB. So what is 512 KB + 512 KB?(refering to AMD 3800+ X2) Its a tough problem, i know. Better bust out the calculator.

Dual core isin't useful in games, and it won't be for a while. If you're gaming, the X2 isin't for you. But, if you're not a hardcore gamer then the X2 should be fine. And, my suggestion as to not get anything below a 3700+ was right, you said it yourself. :)Dual core is GREAT for games. The 4400+ is like TWO fx-55's, for a fraction of the price of one. Whenever you game, you game on an OS. Windows uses a lot of resources for thr 20 or so programs that are running at all times on your machine, even when you're gaming, so dual core means you can have an fx-55 running ONLY the game, and another fx-55 running everything else. This can often increase fps 50%. This is BEYOND the fact that games will go more than twice as fast when they're optimized for 64 bit (A few have done this already - far cry is a notable example), and more than twice as fast again when they're optimized for dual core (multithreaded - it won't be long, maybe a couple months before this happens).

I NEVER PLANNED ON PLAYING GAMES so therefore i had no use in getting a good computer. also it was practically free and if i wanted to i could have it 10x bettter then your computer i just dont want to put money into it k?
