January 7, 200421 yr Author Well...OMP closed the religion thread which really had 2 topics. So I post here a reply from a good friend of mine at MIT concerning what was before the big bang. I've known John since High School...the guy is brilliant and "out there". He and I once discussed Tolkiens Silmarillian and how Tolkiens' anology was probably not that far off from how our universe came to be. You and I share many wonders-in-common, I think Long ago, I read where the smallest particle of matter oscillates, spins or vibrates. Matter is as we perceive it to be because of vibration. Our senses are conditioned by millions of years of evolution to comprehend differences in matter by sight, sound and touch because of the vibration of light, sound, temperature and texture, to name a few. Why wouldn't our universe be an infinite range of vibrations? The real trick is to perceive them all, all the vibrations that make the Universe whole. Imagine a time when you could attain a level of perception of vibrations with your mind beyond the physical senses, understanding what you perceived as naturally as you see your world right now. That's not so far fetched. That's what we're really supposed to be doing with ourselves, but we all tend to get side-tracked in the physical world too much and forget our true nature. Sort of," When you're up to your ass in alligators, you forget that you were draining the swamp". Science defined what mystics from ancient times suspected. Masters or Magi, as some call them, saw the basic form of reality through a different mechanism, in a time long ago when men spent more time away from their bodies than in them. Yes, it's true, but only they knew the truth of their journeys, because, they couldn't reproduce their experience in a laboratory since they could only demonstrate the means. That has always been the hard part. I think that Tolkein was trying to tell us something with the Silmarillian. But, you can find other sources in ancient texts. The Big Bang. What caused it? January 7, 200421 yr im agnostic @butt plug the part about perceiving the universe and etc being able to change it and that the universe is all based on how we choose to see it reminds me of Akira not the movie tho the manga because there is this part where Tetsuo goes to see lady Miyako and she tells him to "open his mind" basically and then he would understand Akira its a damn good movie and manga and i highly recommend it to everyone

The Summarians left some interesting material as did the Persians. Much is to be learn from the Jewish Kabbalah. The Rosicrucians in our own time studied the science of Alchemy(not to be confused with the "lead-into-gold" crowd) amoung other mysteries. There is a common thread through all of these people and their times down to us, here, in the present. It's not easy to see, but it's there just the same. In a way, we are the recipients of thousands of years of study, experiment, imagination and teaching and we really seem to take for granted the fact that to criticize Catholic Christian dogma was to risk being burned at the stake for heresy even as late as the early 1700s. So, those who were thinkers and philosophers, mathmeticians and astronomers, Alchemists(chemists in there day) and Astrologers kept their informed mouths shut. In the 17th century they called it the " underground stream". What was so secret in former times has seen the light of day, mostly. Only, the world of the human mind and it's fantastic power has yet to developed and that was the road that the ancients took. A few of these pioneers in their far away sanctuaries in deserts and mountains, far from mean distractions, found what the mind is capable of achieving. Tibbet would be a good place to look for such Masters, if they would allow themselves to be found. Yeah. Right. The internet is a great place to start. Remember the 'Wisdom of the Mystic Masters'? If Christianity wasn't such hardcore assholes back in time we would have more writings and a better understanding from the great philosophers and others.
