Just wondering what kind of power supply I would need for

7800GTX

1GB (Soon to be 2GB)

AMD X2 4400+

7.2k RPM Hard Drive

I'm looking at a 500W Aspire case right now, but ive heard that it might not handle it, not really sure, I don't know alot about PSUs.. and I'm really looking into a CASE with a powesupply, unless it results in me having to buy a case then a seperate PSU

Thanks <3

My rule is 500w minimum, in case some major power-eating upgrade comes out that I really need.

better get 600, to be sure homie

500W will be more than sufficient

Advertised wattage != Real wattage

I have seen many a generic PSU that advertised "500W" and had maybe 18A on the 12V rail.

In contrast I have a junker 380W Antec TruePower that has 23A on the 12V rail.

Do yourself a favor, and spend a little extra on a reputable brand.

Fortron, Seasonic, OCZ, PCP&C, Antec Truepower are all good brands, and have decent warranties on them, so you don't get shafted in the end.

A good PSU is really the foundation to a good system, as a good portion of dead components will happen because of bad line filterting on the PSU. Skimping here is just stupid.

i just built my new comp and it has almost the exact same specs except it has the 4200+ proc. i used the the apsire 530w power supply from newegg and it worked fine, not to mention the cool leds that lit up blue inside of it.

i have an p5ad2 , with 2 gs of ram + 2 leds , + xtreme fidelity from creatifeve , 3.6 , water cooling more 4 fans , 1 disk of 256 , and 4 cd readers/writers , i have a power source of 460 wats , and it runs fine ... makes a lil bit noise but doesnt bothers me since it is v low .

im thinkin on buyin an 7800gtx , then i'll tell if it works or not.

but for that gtx7800 u only need 310 wats ( i think ) , if u dont have lots of shit in ur pc , 460 will be fine. buy a silent 1.
