Religion is aload of bullshit. And I'm not saying this to be e-cool either, in my opinion it is all just false hope. Sure most people believe in atleast something, I believe in a higher power so to speak, but I wouldn't base my beliefs around an actual person (Such as Jesus.) Some religions are OK, aslong as they don't run your life, kinda like Islam does with things like making you not eat certain things, not being able to have sex with someone who you aren't married too.

I notice a lot of the people on here have the same view on religion, "Religion is bullshit, fuck christians, jesus sucks" etc. I'm not that religious at all, but I would consider myself agnostic.

The way I see it, the universe didn't just happen by accident. There has to be some higher power or creator, etc.

That's fine if you don't believe in God or Jesus or Alah or whatever I couldn't care less, but there are a lot of immature kids that listen to bands like Slipknot and run around with pentagrams trying to be cool and rebelious.

Exactly, your post basicly said what my post said. :D

how far does it go though? so much of religion is disproved by science, which is why i dont believe, but as kigy said, there must have been someone to light the fuse on the big bang. creationists can lick my nuts, though.

hi im hindu

edit:

Certain theistic branches of Hinduism, conceive of a theory of creation with similarities to the theory of the Big Bang. The Hindu mythos, narrated for example in the third book describes a primordial state which bursts forth as the Vishnu glances over it, transforming into the active state of the sum-total of matter. Other forms of Hinduism assert a Universe without beginning or end.

i r not lieking religion.. itsa not so gud for yyour healtj..

okay im done typing wrong.. Okay, in my oppinion, religion is okay.. As long as i dont have to believe in it.. I dont believe in destiny or that anything controls our lifes.. <3 only v0lt can control my life lawl.. <3 that was my oppinion..

Anyone else wanna share their thoughts?

western religions (ie: judaism, christianity, islam, ect) - suck. they are the religions that cause problems throught the world.

eastern religions (ie: hinduism, buddhism, zen, ect) - are "better". they are more loose. they dont tell you how to live but more of just a direction.

christians, jews, muslims - all the same god.

You provide a good point. Perhaps I should look up more about that...

however, my opinion about christianity, judiasm, islam, etc. is as such:

The people needed to be controlled in a way that the ruling body couldn't handle. Enter religion. you've never seen this diety, don't really know if he exists, but you must follow his rules or your soul will be in damination for eternity. An ancient form of crowd control, if you will.

In the present day, religion does have a place in the world, but not in the forfront of our minds anymore. Science has disproved things that religion said was "(diety)'s will." i have no doubts there will be more proved before I die, and more beyond that. it should only be a guide, not an entire lifestyle. People need something to belive in... But to the point of fanaticism? That's taking it wayyy too far.

poeple just have no idea, everybody is just guessing, but i think its very unlikely if there is some kind of "higher power" it has anything to do with how humans are, thats just fucking arrogant

Lol... "light the fuse"? What fuse? The big bang wasn't a bomb...

Also, it is not true that there must have been "someone". Why is it reasonable to assume that the universe needed "intelligent creation", while the so-called intelligent creator can just exist (btw, saying "someone" implies you meant an intelligent creator). It is much more logical to assume that a natural reason exists for the creation of the universe (as opposed to supernatural reason).

There IS something behind reality: think about it, reality itself is truly amazing.

The problem is, people fear death. Heck, why wouldn't you? So then you claim that there is something beyond death. Sure, I hope there is, but I don't take chances: I believe in here and now.

The other fault is though, that when someone does something to hurt you, and you can't get back at them, you use the theory of life after death as a form of punishing them. But when religon meant power, this was used as a double edged sword to pull people into churches, and making others do what the preacher wants: thats exactly what terrorism uses: "Fly this plane into the twin towers, or you'll go to hell"...

As Kigy said, yes it's pretty annoying when you see kids running around saying "fuck God" etc with pentegrams. Though, it's pretty ironic having one in my sig ;). The thing is, the pentegram doesn't mean "Fuck God" to me, it reminds me that I am my own God as a satanist. I'm not some Devil Worshipping "rebellious" teenager, I'm a life loving individual who worships myself.

But returning to kigy's point, yes, there IS something "magical" about nature and existence, with the theorys of time, space and matter. Maybe we get reborn into another dimension when we die...who knows? But for now, I'm a little more interested in loving my life, and self indulgence.

I see it's a cool thing to call religion a "bullshit" and "ignorant" (it's funny coming from trolls who never even read a book about religion)

Lets start another trend, because while people neglect creationism without reading a single book about it, they accept evolution without reading a single book about it, so follow my lead:

The idea of evolution is a big load of bullshit and Darwins real mission was to separate people from their creator.

Don't believe me? Read the book Darwin himself wrote. He's not basing his facts on actual facts, instead, he bases his so called """"facts"""" on belief. How is evolution more acceptable than creationism then? How can we consider evolution "science" if it is based on belief ?! Isn't it the same as religion then, and worse since it considers us stupid animals that "accidentally" turned into the brilliant species we represent? Science proved that "mutation" is lethal or seriously disabling, science also proved that "survival of the fittest" can not ever create new species or abilities, it can just delete the ones which are not as good as the other. So out of 2 similar horse breeds the weaker one will die and the dominant will continue to prosper. It's not a new species though, is it? For example according to darwidiot the more simpler species evolve into more complex species over time. CHOO CHOO!!! HERE COMES THE CONTRADICTRAIN!!! How is it possible that the largest population on Earth is found between the most simple living beings? Shouldn't it be humans? According to darweird simple things evolve into newer things and the older things die out. The unicellular organisms didn't agree with this and still continue to be afuckinglotmore than us.

Oh but this won't stop you from belittling religion right, dumbasses?

kigy']The way I see it, the universe didn't just happen by accident. There has to be some higher power or creator, etc.

You're smart for a myg0t, no, seriously, I was expecting to find this thread without a single post making sense. There is still hope for you.

Evolution teaches that the Earth and the whole universe evolved spontaneously through billions of years without any divine intervention, after a tiny particle—almost nothing—exploded, into which all space, time, matter and energy had been condensed. A few billion years ago, at a certain moment after the Earth was formed, life arose spontaneously from non-living matter (organic substances from inorganic) in the form of one or a very small number of primeval cells. From these cells evolved the lower life forms and from them the higher forms (biological evolution), as they gained more and more features—meaning new genetic information—while adapting to their environment. This process produced all the wonderful species we see today, as well as all the extinct ones the fossil record bears witness of.

Science disproves this, not the fact that we were, in fact, created.

If you fail to discover the horde of contradictions and false facts (Based on motherfucking belief by mr. darwidiot) in evolution (which is the main opposing force of creationism) then I can only pity you.

But of course declaring that God doesn't exist is nice because I have no responsibilities then, right?

"Fools!" Mr. T

Religion is for the weak-minded ignorant.

Who needs friends when you got generalisation?

Agreed! Religions involving getting in "touch" with forces you have no idea are really oh so much better than relying on someone who is maybe smarter than you. Maybe we should all meditate ! And and lets get some more occult in the picture please! Maybe we should try that magic thing! It's probably harmless since it's not real or harmful to our souls!

Now, to get off the sarcasm train I have to get my baseball bat of disappointment and chip your teeth with it.

WRONG

Religion is not the cause of problems,

It's people, and generally 2 types of people.

1. The religious FANATICS (note: a true christian[i can say this for christians because I study the Bible a lot. Nope it doesn't tell you, or anyone to go to "holy wars" or to hurt people who don't share your opinions] doesn't go to war/harm/hurt other people. Read the Bible you oversized monkey if my word is not enough.)

2. The ones who FANATICALLY despise religion (that means you billy boy.)

Each side is blaming the other for the cause of problems, instead of tolerating eachother.

Bah, what am I doing, you'll probably post some smart comebacks and won't even consider my posts actual message.

Jeez! I'm such an optimist sometimes

I am my own God as a satanist.

I don't get something about Satanism though. If you are a God of some sort, why do you grow old, fall into diseases, and die, just like me or anyone else? Doesn't that contradict the most sacred dogma of Satanism?

Addon: Things I have researched about satanism:

1. The Honesty

"Satanism is damn honest philosophy. It tells it like it is! Hypocrisy, so rampant in most philosophies and religions, is seemingly absent in Satanism. A true Satanist does not stand for hypocrisy in others or in oneself. A commitment to radical reality is common among Satanists. Satanism is a breath of fresh air in a society so tainted with self-delusion."

2. The Independent Thought

"By and large, true Satanists are very intelligent. Satanism requires one to think for oneself and this automatically separates the intelligent from the stupid. Satanists understand the value of independent thought and are able to analyze and choose what to believe and do according to their own values and interests, not those instilled in them by social norms and culture. "

3. The In-Your-Face Non-conformity

"This one gets me excited. *breathe* The herd mentality of our society that judges books by their covers is not only absent in Satanism, Satanists have practically invented new rules when it comes to independent thought and nonconformity. I love the fact that the average idiot is either offended or afraid of Satanists and their symbols. Satanists, like many alternative cultures and philosophies, unabashedly stands over and against the conforming masses of society while simultaneously challenging them, it just does so more extravagantly. "

(I agree with the author on this one, many ignorant people shiver when they hear the word, Satanist. A fact is that satanists are nothing to be afraid from.)

There were a few more but these are the non-biased ones I can agree with.

Here comes the criticism which is also true based on the experiences of Anton Szandor LaVey with catholics (the much mentioned peepshow addicts, heh, I liked that one)

1. Satanism is Reactionary

"The fact is, the best philosophies are developed out of the embrace of something positive, not out of reaction to something negative. But Satanism is overwhelmingly reactionary. The “reactionary factor” is evident even in the name of “Satanism.” Satanism is a reaction to the hypocritical, stupid, tired, weak, boring, failings of mainstream philosophies and religions. Rather than developing concepts intrinsic to itself, Satanism gathers its strength and power by feeding off of the weaknesses and failings of other systems of thought. The great pitfall with this is that Satanism can only be as strong as that which it reacts to. Like the Radical Protestants whose power and persuasion relied solely on the evils of Roman Catholicism and later died when the Roman Catholics got their act together, Satanism depends on the ignorance and stupidity of modern Christianity and other white light religions."

(And so so so so so true this is, a lot of people are afraid of the word, this gives tremendous power.)

"If you don’t think Satanism is reactionary, just read a few Satanists’ websites. Many of the authors sound like enraged frustrated teenagers who need a target to pin their angst on and need one now. Satanism provides them an outlet. There are exceptions to this rule, but this is the general attitude I’ve observed."

(This is also true, this is headsup for all those that call people who believe in God "ignorant" "invalid" "stupid". Wrong. Even if in general christians are stupid, it doesn't mean just because someone accepts God as his/her creator and Jesus as his/her saviour that they all are. This only shows how stupid someone is when judging a religion on the outlets. The quote says a lot of satanist websites are like this, but not all.)

2. Satanism is Mainly Rhetoric

"Related to Satanism being reactionary, Satanism is “philosophy light” and “rhetoric heavy.” Anton LaVey’s greatest skill was that of a rhetorician. Satanism, if one scratches much beyond the surface, proves to be intellectually shallow. There’s just not a lot to it. My gut reaction to the SB was, “It’s Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People with an ‘evil’ twist and a large dose of Friedrich Nietzsche thrown in. Satanism gets people motivated, excited, and impassioned - like all good rhetoric. But in the end, it’s not intellectually satisfying as a philosophy in its own right. "

(He was a good preacher though !)

3. Satanism is too Dependent on Emotion and Human Ego

"Just like Satanism’s forerunners, existentialism and gnosticism, Satanism’s main target is the human ego. Most people are drawn and remain committed to Satanism because it feeds their ego. If you’re told that you’re special or elite or some other warm fuzzy idea when you embrace a philosophy, then you’re more apt to buy into it and be blind to its shortcomings. Satanists thrive on the idea that they’re somehow “the few, the brave, and the proud.” In fact, Satanism uses the same rhetoric that the US Military and religious cults use to win and keep the loyalty of their followers. If your ego needs to be flattered and this need is met in Satanism, then your ability to be rational and have intellectual clarity has been short circuited on some level. This is the problem with all “feel-good” philosophies and religions. Like a habit one can’t give up, people become dependent on the stroking of their ego and critical thought is sacrificed. "

(This is a lot more attractive on first sight when compared to following Jesus Christ where you're not allowed to feed your ego. I prefer following him, but that's me.)

That sums up the points I think make Satanism a bit contradictionary on its own.

As said my main 2 problems with satanism are these:

1. A Satanist loves him/herself as a God (I don't think I need to meddle how this is not true)

2. It builds on peoples ignorance. (Oh no a Satanist, what ever will I do?!)

I'm willing to discuss, I'm not judging you, since it is not my task to do so. Perhaps you can explain some indept experience as a Satanist to me?

Oh and before any idiots come back at me saying "How dare you defend the xy church?!" : Bite me.

I am not defending any churchs. It is a fact that politically correct Churchs don't worship the God of the Bible. They worship someone else.

That's nice that even people who are not believers know this, but you should blame the Churchs leadership, not the (there is a lot of them.) honest, harmless but ignorant (and therefore) misguided members.

^You say religion isnt the cause of problems.. So if dear mr adolf hitler wasnt a believer, would he still have killed 6 million jews? or isnt 6 million deaths a problem? not that i care about any of the people that died, my family survived.. and no, im not jewish <3.. Whats your oppinion on what i just said?

When we say we are our own Gods, we mean we worship OURSELVES. Yes, we do die, death is the destroyer of life, which is why we strive even more to gain everything in our lives before we kick the bucket.

And why would I want to waste my time reading a book on religon?

Get out, Christian.

BadGuy, when you look around at the world do you not believe that the evolution theory makes sense? I have read a lot about it and, to be quite frank, Darwin's original writings bear little significance on the evolution theory as it stands today. Research and discoveries have shown connections between all species and all types of animals. Every single year more discoveries chip away at the last stands of religion and add to the evolution theory to prove how we came to be. I don't know if we'll ever have conclusive proof but I will not be tied down to a religion, ever, and I will always claim that evolution theory is the way we came to be and that it's just a miniscule portion of everything that exists in this universe, or this multiverse ( depending on whatever theories you care to believe in/take note of).
... I'm a life loving individual who worships myself.

Did you mistake 'Devil Worship' for masturbation?
