January 11, 200619 yr If you wanna make just a few small pages, and don't have dreamweaver, or you wanna be "old school". Learn HTML and use notepad. Best way for noobies is Dreamweaver.

January 12, 200619 yr haha yeah notepad rules, After you make it save it as .html I do that sometimes when im bored.
January 12, 200619 yr I used notepad exclusively til I found this (Notepad++): http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm It's notepad with syntax highlighting that lets you edit multiple files at once. On linux I just use nano/vi for everything (including editing html/php)
January 12, 200619 yr notepad makes m3n sites dreamweaver if you want syntax highlighting or WYSIWG. dreamweaver is very object oriented so its excellent for complicated layouts

WYSIWYG authoring tools are okay, but not if you use them as crutches. Learn HTML, then get into web standards and learn XHTML and CSS. Tradition web design methods can be pretty damn costly and unflexible. Learn to seperate content from design.
