Posted January 18, 200619 yr I'm off to college soon, and looking at laptops... I don't really care about battery life as this will mainly just sit in my dorm and go with me to classes (where outlets are avaliable) I know alienware makes gaming laptops, but I'd like to look at other options first. Any places/makers I should check out?
January 18, 200619 yr Alienware and the Dell XPS are probably top of the line gaming laptops. Will cost you a pretty penny, but they are the only two companies that I think are able to compete in the market of gaming desktops.
January 19, 200619 yr Author just get a desktop and take notes in class, seriously I actually did want a desktop... however the college requires you to have a laptop.
January 19, 200619 yr http://www.sagernotebook.com top of the line hardware - not top of the price list.
January 19, 200619 yr Dude for the price for a gaming labtop you cna have a really kick ass gaming machine, with a big hard drive for pr0n
January 19, 200619 yr Author Dude for the price for a gaming labtop you cna have a really kick ass gaming machine, with a big hard drive for pr0n I agree, I would rather have a sweet desktop... but I HAVE to get a laptop. I might as well get one that can play games. Thanks for the links an input so far!
January 19, 200619 yr Dude for the price for a gaming labtop you cna have a really kick ass gaming machine, with a big hard drive for pr0n or he can buy a gaming laptop and if he ends up using up all his hardrive he can but a external hard drive
January 19, 200619 yr I highly recommend http://www.ibuypower.com . Prices are very reasonable and I've had good experiences ordering from them.

January 30, 200619 yr Author looks like sager is the win to me... finally, I can play bf2 without lagging all over the place ~_~
January 30, 200619 yr I was on the same path as you fetus, getting a gaming laptop but after 2 years of college, its better to spend $700 on a laptop that plays no games and wont distract you,and use the extra $$ to build a desktop kicks ass. Have the best of both worlds.
January 30, 200619 yr I actually did want a desktop... however the college requires you to have a laptop. what fucking jews. if they require you get one, they should give you one. still, if you can't build one, i'd say go with any generic brand. compaq used to have some really nice ones, im not sure if they still do. last time i checked them out was 4 years ago, and you could get a pentium 4 2100 512 ddr 50 gig hdd radeon x300 dvd-rom and burner for like 800 dollars.

Oh I agree, you do get to "rent" one but its always outdated, and you don't get to keep it... too jewish for that. Plus, I want one that is going to last me a bit out of college, when I'm poor but I still want to be able to play a game or two without having to buy a completely new system.
February 2, 200619 yr Well i know its a gateway but it has pretty good specs for a gateway Model-MX7515 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7628613&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat22300050001&id=1130986342926 I have one and its a sweet deal for what you get for specs can't beat the price never overheats AMD Athlon 64 128mb graphics card ATI Radeon x600 its on sale $1,199.99 I play bf2 full graphics and also play css dod:s full graphics css i can get like around 140 fps. for the price you aint ganna find a notebook with an amd which is for gaming. February 4, 200619 yr I'm off to college soon, and looking at laptops... Any places/makers I should check out? 1. Whoever buy Alienware shitts = stupid. They have horrible customer service. 2. You should aware the fact that serious gaming laptop weight around 15-18 pounds and their batteries will never last longer than 1 hour.

All the classrooms on the campus have outlets as part of the desks.... I could just plug in there. I just want to find one that will last me a while as far as gaming goes.
February 9, 200619 yr I was on the same path as you fetus, getting a gaming laptop but after 2 years of college, its better to spend $700 on a laptop that plays no games and wont distract you,and use the extra $$ to build a desktop kicks ass. Have the best of both worlds. Got to agree with Fatty. It is exactly what I did. Got a cheap laptop at Staples to take to class and run word/firefox on and built a badass desktop for games that I am still upgrading. Basically exactly what Fatty said.

February 9, 200619 yr just get an ultraportable laptop, no such thing as a gaming laptop. Get the longest battery life possible, so you can do shit like wardriving.
February 9, 200619 yr You can underclock the CPU (or just drop the voltage a bit) on most laptops to gain extra battery life with almost no performance hit
February 10, 200619 yr Mind if I ask what college this is? The new MacBooks are getting 5+ hours of battery life, not to mention the built in iSight for all of your magicanimals fun!
