On top of that fact, you actually did a pretty damned good job. Actually, giving yourself a tattoo is less painful and easier due to you knowing when the needle is going in and your body is a bit more relaxed, and that's for a large majority of people. The poke-stick method of tattooing where you repeatedly poke yourself with a single needle to apply the ink is a pathetic nignog way of tattooing, and i'd respect the tattoo if it wasn't such shit, but that's all it amounted to. Go get a CD player motor, some needles, and everything else, and make your own and at least you'll have a ghetto-rigged gun that works better than that.

I said I fixed my Jailhouse tattoo gun. And no, the "poke-stick method" is more painful. I've had tattoos done professionally, and they tingle only (the colouring hurts a bit).
