"Since my name is Mike Rowe, I thought it would be funny to add 'soft' to the end of it," said Rowe.

Microsoft, however, is not amused.

It has demanded that he give up his domain name. In November, Rowe received a letter from Microsoft's Canadian lawyers informing him he was committing copyright infringement.

"I didn't think they would get all their high-priced lawyers to come after me," Rowe said.

OH NOS CANADIAN LAWYERS ALL RUN

thats actually funny he wrote back and said 10 grand
Heh...I think the kid would be better off if he lived in the US...CAN courts have a little sense, and might actually force him to accept a smaller settlement, but in the States, he could counter sue for big bucks, and probably win :)
Yup, I'd sell it to them. Microsoft can't pull this copyright infringement shit on him.
they had a lawsuit against lindows and as far as i know fuckbillgates/microsuck.com are still up, why dont they do shit to them.

some1 should register more similar domains and ask for high price

oh and get the medias attention then your rich :grin2:

Hes actually settled the case for an xbox, some games, helping him get microsoft cert'd and some other shit.

very true, I don't know how canadian courts work but if this was U.S. he could of made this huge. Talked about how "the big guy is picking on the little guys and hes tried of it". I am sure he could get some lawyers to go about it for free almost b/c the payoff would be huge. Just imagine the head lines "Microsoft corp demanding a kid give his domain name up b/c it is similiar to software giant microsoft" or something of that nature. Wow...brilliant

this kid had it all figured out
