Personally, i perfer Scandinavian Metal. Here's some Suggestions: Children of Bodom (mostly pre-Hatecrew Deathroll. Though a few songs on HCDR and TL&S/AYDY are decent). Kalmah (Pre The Black Waltz. There are a few decent songs on it, but it's lacking compared to previous albums) Imperanon (They only have one album, Staind, and it's rather kick ass) Amon Amarth Dissection (Both old and new kick ass. Yes.. new. After 11 years, they have a new cd being released and some new demos. Also, can't forget Maha Kali single) Dark Tranquility In Flames (Pre Reroute to Remain) Dragon Lord Immortal (Some of the stuff off Sons of the Norther Darkness. Pretty much everything else by them sucks anus) Vader (There older stuff is pretty good, and the Art of War stuff has a nice groove) Death (All there shit is good, though a lot of it was fairly underproduced. You will NEVER beat the Sound Of Perseverance, though). Control Denied (Before you bitch at me for suggesting Power Metal, know this: It's Chuck Schuldiner's other band (the vocalist/guitarist from Death) Nevermore (Another PowerMetal band, but they are extremely talented) Iced Earth (Yet another Tallented powermetal band. Take it or leave it) All the other black metal bands you guys mentioned could kiss my ass. They are WAY too generic. They all have the same formula for their songs. The songs are underproduced to hell (why the hell do you think a song is good if it's Reverbed to all hell to the point you can't hear the notes. Also, vocals suck big testicles). They may be what's "underground," but it's because they don't have any real tallent. Before you bitch at me, you can shove my cock in your mouther. They DON'T have any real tallent. To schwenger: If you think I'm lying, I CAN arpeggio super fast with no problem. And by super fast, I mean like Yngwie Malmsteen fast. As for blast beats, the drummer in my band Does a blast beat thru a 4:30 song (and in practice, we practice each song at last 4 times). Holding a blast beat isn't that difficult if you've been drumming for over 5 years with double bass (and have a decent double bass pedal.. i.e. Iron Cobra). So don't try to tell me about tallent. If I can do it with ease (and I can), then it isn't real tallent. And yes, theory appeals to me too (i've done nothing but study it for the last 2 and a half years). This is why I listen to the music I do (ie. Bach, Beetoven, Seibelus, Vivaldi, Paganini, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, CoB, Kalmah, Imperanin, Dissection, et al). They all have a classical influence (if they are not ACTUALLY classical), and are very complex in terms of theory (mainly using Harmonic Minor/Phrygian and/or Minor/Diminished).

I have listened to black metal, and there is some original stuff out there that is decent, however all the stuff you "original black metal kids" think is good is actually just shit. Learn to play guitar and to record better. Honestly, I get better recording quality out of my home studio.
