March 10, 200619 yr It's a 1951 Swiss K31 Beechwood stock, it can do less than one inch groups at 150 yards. I plan on puting a scout mount scope on it that replaces the rear sight. http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/6089/k31resize0xp.jpg Guns dont kill people, Millertime kills people
March 10, 200619 yr If you want to get into pistol shooting; start with a 9mm or a .40 or prehaps even a .45 chambered gun. The Desert Eagle is awesome, but if you've never shot before it would be a bad first choice. Desert eagles are impractical and too expsensive IMO but yes, bad ass. I would say 9mms are my fave. I don't own any guns, I had a desert eagle but it didnt work it was just for show. Edit: To the guy that wanted a DE if you really had your heart set on it I would just get a Baby Eagle they are just as good and half the price.

March 10, 200619 yr i think it's BULLSHIT you could get that kind of picture easily on the interweb write myg0t owns me sticker on the phone k He's not bullshiting, there's nothing to bullshit. It's not hard to get a gun, no reason to lie about it.
March 10, 200619 yr Only downside is that ammo is expensive as hell for that rifle. I ordered 480 rounds and it cost $156.00. I am going to get into reloading my own ammo though and I will save a shitload. The caliber is 7.5x55, but you can reload using standard American .308 bullets, as long as you use the 7.5x55 swiss casings. Here is the ammo when compared next to an ak round, a .22 LR round, and a 2 3/4 in. 12 gauge shell. http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1824/comparison5xk.jpg But for a cartridge that large, recoil is surprisingly mild. About the same as a 12 gauge birdshot load. If I remember correctly about the Schmidt , you can resize .284 Winchester brass for 7.5 easily enough. You can order the 7.5 but they charge you about 4-5 bucks a box of 10 (really a rip off) occasionally at gun shows you can pick up surplus 7.5 fairly cheap but I have found in the past that surplus ammo at gun shows are sooooo unreliable ...but at least you would have the brass. Vintage's are fun to collect and fire . I use to have a small collection of vintage way way way back ... a Mauser K98 (with the swastika RARE) ,Enfield No.4 and a pristine Springfield 1903(loved the 1903 but kicks like a mutha) . Sold them off long ago since they sat in the gun safe for years just collecting dust. Schmidts are quite common but usually in fair/rough to good condition (anywhere from 60-99 bucks) and usually have to go thru the gunsmith first to ensure they are safe for firing . Original Walnut stock models pre-'44 in good -pristine condition are very hard to find and are rarely parted with , with collectors . you got a decent find at a decent price .
March 10, 200619 yr Author thank you for the helpful knowledge hysteria. And since this thread has pretty much turned into a general firearms discussion.. I thought I would post the k31 with the rest of the family. I refinished the wood on the sks, put a 4x mildot scope on it, and I still gotta put a few more coats of bluing on the magazine as you can see it is lighter than the rest of the gun. http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/7605/familyphoto00227wx.jpg
March 11, 200619 yr hi. i'm new, but about the size of shell in relation to recoil..not so true granted if you have a .50 cal rifle round compared to a 30-06, yeah, there's gonna be some difference. i hand load all my ammo, and recoil is based upon amount of powder in the shell, type of powder, weight of the bullet, and weight of the gun. sorry.. stuff like that bothers me..but any ways, nice gun i have a: wyoming arms .45 pistol ( wyoming arms isn't manufactured any more cuz some of the lower calibers would assplode in ppls hands) S&W .45 remington 7mm-08 custom 6.5-06 bolt action w/ markX action and many others totaling about 13 various guns, with parts to build more
