Posted March 12, 200619 yr i have SuSe 10.0, and Windows XP. I use WinXP more and i only have a 40 gb hard drive split between them. How would i be able to make the SuSe Partition smaller and the WinXP larger without harming my system files? Any programs, etc? Thanks.
March 12, 200619 yr You really can't unless you either had some more space left that was unpartitioned of that 40 gbs and used that for your win xp progs or you would have to delete the partition of SUSE and then make 3 partitions instead of 2.
March 15, 200619 yr Quote MAKONG']Ok' date=' first you remove everthing from your main drive. Then... Install linux.[/quote'] Agreed. Either that, or format your harddrive and when you fdisk it before installing either OS, set the Windows partition larger, or whatever you wanted to do.
March 30, 200619 yr Everyone says to install linux. I'd love to, but nobody I know in real life who says it has ever actually done it. Also, if I did do it, then I'd have to keep a windows partition for my gaming/progs that aren't Linux compatible (ie: probably most of them). So what benefit will I gain from having two partitions that I need to switch between to achieve my goals and avoid Windows as much as possible? To me, it sounds like a shitload of effort to make a point nobody will see the results of. People need to make some Uberleet games that run better on Linux, but still get the gaming community's attention, and have them promote Linux hardcore. Without sponsorship or funding from Linux, I don't see this happening. About the partition. If you can, get a new HD (40g should be cheap) or borrow one from a friend.. Set a partition on it for your SuSe, but the new size you want plus 5 gig for emergencies. Ghost SuSe into it. Ghost Windows into the other partition. Format the original drive after checking everything is working. Norton Ghost will do this procedure. Good luck. I hope SuSe works with Ghost.

I doubt you use anything that doesn't have a linux equivalent. (The equivalent program is probably better too, as I've seen in a lot of cases.) Also, most games can be run using Cedega/WineX, so there's no need to use Windows. (Half-Life, Half-Life 2, DOD:S, CS:S, BattleField 2 etc. all run on Cegega\WineX and some games using OpenGL have a linux client (e.g. UT, Doom 3, Quake 4 (I don't really play games so I can't list many.))

Using Cedega i can run any game flawlessly. I can also run hacks in executable format using wine. And anything that windows can do Linux can do it cheaper, more effectively, and more efficiently, and i can proove it.

August 7, 200618 yr Listen to what bonez is saying and install linux. it will definitely be to your liking once you install. I'd also recommend installing gentoo since it is one of the most customizable linux OS's you'll come across letting you install a multitude of kernels to your preference. THe only hard part is installing but there is a manual online for that on the gentoo website.
